Life & Work with Raquel Skrobarczyk of Rosedale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raquel Skrobarczyk.

Hi Raquel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I always knew I wanted to be an interior designer since I was a little girl. I went to Texas State in San Marcos and studied Interior Design. I studied Art abroad in Italy. I began working as a designer on my own on smaller scale jobs for a few years. I have been at Heather Scott Home and Design now for over a decade and am now the Principal Interior Designer and Owner.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Juggling young children and balancing family life is something that I am constantly trying to do. I love my work and try not to take too much on my plate, so I am able to be there for my children. But, I also like to be involved in every little detail with my design clients, so it is quite the balance!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My signature style is “classic, chic and serene”. I always listen to what my client’s needs and design goals are and really try to bring forward the best overall design that will work perfectly for their family and lifestyle. I always keep in mind classic and timeless elements – liveable luxury is what I always strive for aesthetically. I want my clients to be able to love their homes for many years to come, so I strive to select stylish pieces that are still timeless. So, you will find a lot of variety in my design portfolio. Each home is uniquely curated for the client in mind. No detail is too small when it comes to designing a home. I love really diving into the details and making every moment special. I am so thankful for our operations team. They handle each projects every move with care and attention to make sure the final look is achieved seamlessly for the clients big reveal.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Recently, we have been working a lot more on vacation and second homes. These are always so much fun because the client is usually willing to take more risk with the overall design, which really takes the design to the next level. I would love to keep working on vacation homes at the beach and mountains.
