Today we’d like to introduce you to Shruti Babu.
Hi Shruti, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m from Austin, Texas. I was born in India, raised in Gainesville, Texas and have been in Austin since 1997. I decided to start an Instagram page in 2017 and that was the same year I was diagnosed with stage 2 Breast Cancer. @PajamaMama512 went from a mommy Instagram page to a Breast Cancer page where I took people behind the scenes of life as a mommy with Breast Cancer.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The day I found out I had Breast Cancer was one of the hardest days of my life….. so I thought. Immediately after being diagnosed and losing the first head on my hair, my dad passed away unexpectedly while visiting India and that definitely was one of the worst days of my life. My dad and my hair all on the same day. My oncologist suggested I not go to India since I had zero immune systems and had started chemotherapy already.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am definitely my Daddy’s daughter. He loved helping people and so do I. He would always find a way to turn a stranger into family and I feel like I do the same thing.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I love learning new things. If I find a good book that teaches me how to be a better parent or a podcast that has parenting tips that’s my favorite! You’re never too old to learn something new. I get so many parenting tips from my best friend who also happens to be my sister. She is one of the most amazing mothers and I’m constantly learning how to be a better mother from her.
