I’ve always been drawn to transformation—witnessing how confidence flourishes when people truly feel good in their own skin. Growing up in El Paso, I was surrounded by the comfort and support of my family and the vibrant energy of the community, but deep down, I knew my journey would take me beyond those familiar borders.
In 2017, I packed up my dreams and made the move to Austin, TX, ready to build a career in medical aesthetics. The change wasn’t easy—new city, unfamiliar faces, and the pressure to prove myself in a competitive industry. But I wasn’t one to shy away from a challenge. I dove into training, honing my skills in skin rejuvenation, perfecting my techniques, and earning a reputation for delivering tangible, life-changing results.
Years later, my name became synonymous with glowing skin. Clients sought me not only for treatments, but for the education, support, and energy I brought to every session. “Skin with Syd” was more than just skincare—it became a movement, a commitment to help people embrace their best selves. My patients truly are my walking art.
Looking back, I realize the risk of leaving home was absolutely worth it. I’ve found my purpose, and now, I’m exactly where I’m meant to be—empowering others to shine.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve lost opportunities along the way—not because I wasn’t capable, but because I let self-doubt speak louder than my potential. There were moments when I questioned if I was good enough, if I belonged in the rooms I worked so hard to get into. I’ve felt the weight of comparison, the frustration of setbacks, and the fear that maybe I wasn’t built for this after all.
There was times when I changed jobs, not because I wanted to, but because I needed to. I was searching for something that could fulfill me in ways I hadn’t expected. And it wasn’t until I found “Saving Face”—in the literal and metaphorical sense—that I realized my worth. It became my saving grace. The journey wasn’t just about learning techniques, but about rediscovering my own strength and confidence.
The highs have been incredible—watching my work transform not just skin, but confidence. Seeing people glow, not just from treatments, but from truly feeling good about themselves. But the lows? They’ve tested me. Moments where I wanted to walk away, where I wondered if all the effort was worth it. Times when I felt like I had to start over just to prove to myself that I still could.
Then came the biggest change of all. Becoming a mother to my son, Vice, was the greatest achievement of my life. My world shifted in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Motherhood gave me a new sense of purpose and depth, something I couldn’t have fully understood until I experienced it. My life suddenly had so much more meaning, more direction, and more love than I ever thought possible.
But no matter how many times I’ve fallen into doubt, I always find my way back. Because this path isn’t just a career—it’s a part of me. And every challenge, every setback, has only made me stronger. I’ve learned that self-doubt is just noise, and my work—my passion—is louder. And now, with Vice by my side, I know that I’m doing it all not just for me, but for him, and for the future I want to build for us.
