Life & Work with Tammam

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammam.

Hi Tammam, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
From a very young age, I always had a passion for gaming & entertainment so when I stumbled on youtube back in 2013, I knew it was for me. I began creating Minecraft videos under the name “AfroPig” when I was 12 years old, where I created over 200 videos and never garnered more than 70 subscribers. After two years of doing that, I decided it was time for a change and started creating videos on madden, a football videogame, growing my channel to the first thousand before switching yet again to a game called NBA 2K where I ended up amassing over 60 thousand subscribers from 2015-20. Finally, after growing a bit older, I felt like the name Afropig was a bit childish and I was getting bored of video games so I yet again changed not only my name but also transitioned into a brand new channel named Tammam where I create videos about Fashion, Food, & also occasionally Vlog my life which is where I am at today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was anything but a smooth road as I ran into obstacles constantly from not growing at all for two years to communities trying to bring me down daily as the internet is filled with lots of hate and unsolicited opinions from everybody all the time. As I grew older, I just learned to accept that there is no such thing as a smooth road and life is inherently filled with adversity regardless of what you do, so now I just get my work done and drown out the noise.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My favorite part of my job is being able to express myself completely through my work. If I feel like creating a cool skit, showing off my recent thrift finds, or cooking a 5-star meal I can do that and have full creative control in how I produce, edit, and deliver that piece of content to other people without having a bunch of tv executives review my stuff and telling me what I can and cannot do. Instead, the market decides what they like and it’s nice to be able to have full control of my work all the time.

How do you think about happiness?
Working towards things I’m passionate about every day and doing my best to grow and be the best version of myself as self-improvement and growth probably make me happier than anything.
