Life & Work with Taylor Nave & Ronnie Calderon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Nave & Ronnie Calderon.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We discovered Tap Truck USA as we were working from home. In wishing that a majical wine truck would pull up in our neighborhood because it was just that kind of day, we started looking into that concept, which led is to Tap Truck. We discovered that Austin was missing one of these awesome trucks and we couldn’t believe it! We both have backgrounds in the bartending and special events industry and thought a bar in a vintage vehicle was such an amazing idea. We were both immediately all in and we started putting together Tap Truck Austin.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road but it’s been an amazing journey nonetheless. We started looking for the vehicle we wanted and found our 1959 F-100 in Louisiana. Once we started the build out, it was hard to have the truck far away from us and make decisions about the way it would look. Also as everyone knows, Louisiana is notorious for bad weather so we not only had a lot of weather postponements but also parts shipment postponements due to covid. We were so excited to get started and the pushbacks really got frustrating but once we got our truck, it was full speed ahead and no looking back. We’ve had a few setbacks due to covid restrictions in terms of cancellations, date push backs, changes, etc., but it’s nothing that we can’t handle and I think we’ve gotten a lot stronger due to these navigations.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Attention to detail and craftsmanship is what sets us apart. Ronnie is a master woodworker and has had his own woodworking shop and business in the past. He can whip up a beautiful handmade wooden bar, but together, we don’t just make any old bars, we pay attention to the detail that we put into them. They’re intricate, designed to wow our clients and look perfect next to our truck. We take the time to pick decor for each event that matches our client’s color scheme, vibe, or particular event occasion. Our love of standing out, trying new things and being different is what sets us apart.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
