Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler (I Am) Cricchi.
Hi Tyler (I Am), so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Music for me started in 2nd grade. The teacher asked me to write a poem, and I brought back 2 notebook pages, front and back, filled with a “rap.” The teacher quickly reminded me that it wasn’t the assignment nor realistic for me. Something about that moment set everything in motion. I listened to 50 cents, Eminem, kid rock, and nelly the most in elementary school, so those would probably be my original inspirations for artists. Outside the music, life has been crazy. I spent much time locked up and on heavy drugs, leading down roads darker than I ever imagined. I didn’t like speaking in those days, but it made me into who I am now. Which is a man I’m proud of.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Single parent households, struggling to eat and pay for pills, drug extremely heavy addiction, constantly in and out of jails and treatment centers, running from the law and people I had robbed. I was dodging death 4 times in just a few months. Life was insane before I came to Texas, and I started to take this seriously. It’s the whole reason I’m here.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in music and creative arts, but that’s extremely expensive to fund. So to have money behind me, I build motocross tracks and facilities and do other odd contracting and landscaping jobs as I can. Any time sitting still is wasted time.
Any big plans?
I plan to leave my mark on the world in a way no one has thought of. Continue to stay on my path and continue to thank god for all I’m able to do.
