Today we’d like to introduce you to Alberta Genero.
Hi Alberta, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I didn’t grow up dreaming of becoming a trainer.
I just knew I loved moving. Sweating. Pushing my limits.
I was working in tourism, jumping from one country to another—Spain, Egypt, the Caribbean, Ibiza, Greece. It was fast-paced and beautiful, but deep down, I felt disconnected. I was living in paradise, but not living on purpose.
No matter where I was, I always found a way to work out. It was the only thing that made me feel like me. It gave me energy, focus, and a kind of quiet strength I couldn’t find anywhere else. And slowly, that “thing I did for myself” became the thing I wanted to give to others.
My mission truly started in Italy, where I’m from. I began coaching women, and I saw what happens when someone finally starts believing in their own strength. That fire took me to Miami, where I spent two amazing years training women who were tired of quick fixes and just wanted something real.
Now I’m in Austin. And I’m all in.
Through my brand She Can, I help women rebuild trust in themselves. We don’t chase skinny. We build strength. Discipline. Confidence. I’m here to show them they’re not broken—they’re powerful. They just need the right path to come back to themselves.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing about this journey has been smooth—and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Growth doesn’t come from comfort. And I’ve learned that without struggle, there’s no strength. Without resistance, there’s no rise.
Moving from Europe to the U.S. was one of the biggest leaps of my life. My English was terrible. I felt out of place, out of sync, and at times completely lost. But I’m a fast learner—and even faster at adapting. I didn’t change who I was to fit in. I learned how to stand out without losing myself.
It was a different culture, a different rhythm, a different mentality. I had to rebuild everything from scratch—my business, my network, my voice. I took risks most people wouldn’t. I’m a risk taker. I believe in betting on myself—even when no one else does.
So no, it hasn’t been smooth. But it’s been real. And it’s been worth every step.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a personal trainer—but what I do goes far beyond workouts and reps. I help women build strength, discipline, and confidence that lasts a lifetime. My work is rooted in transformation—physical, yes—but also mental, emotional, and deeply personal.
Maybe it’s because I come from another country, another mindset, but my approach is different. I don’t hand out cookie-cutter plans or push quick fixes. I walk with my clients. I know their stories. I know what they’re fighting for. And they trust me—not just because they see real, lasting results—but because they feel seen, heard, and supported every step of the way.
This isn’t about having a good month or fitting into a dress for a vacation. This is about building a life. One where exercise and healthy habits become a natural part of who they are—not a punishment, not a phase, but a foundation.
What makes me proud? Watching women transform—not just their bodies, but their belief in themselves. Seeing a client go from “I’ll never be able to do that” to “Look what I just did.” That shift—that power—is everything.
I don’t just train bodies. I help women rewrite their story. And that’s what sets me apart.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
To me, risk isn’t something to avoid—it’s something to respect. It’s the price of growth. Every time I’ve chosen the “safe” path, I’ve stayed the same. But every time I’ve taken a risk, I’ve stepped into a new version of myself.
I’ve taken many risks—big ones. I left my country, my language, my comfort zone. I moved to a place where I had no connections and barely spoke the language. I started over from scratch—not just in life, but in business. I didn’t wait until I was fully ready, because truth is… you never are. I just showed up with everything I had.
Was I scared? Absolutely. But I’ve learned that courage isn’t the absence of fear—it’s trusting yourself enough to move anyway. And every risk I’ve taken—every moment of doubt, discomfort, or uncertainty—has paid off in growth, strength, and freedom.
I think we often fear risk because we focus too much on what we might lose. But what about what we might gain? A new life. A new purpose. A new version of ourselves that we haven’t even met yet.
Risk is the doorway to becoming who you were meant to be. And I’ve never regretted walking through it.
