Meet Alexander Danon of Acento

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexander Danon

Alexander, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Everything started when I (Alexander Danon) moved with my family to Austin, Tx.
For the first time in a log time I had the opportunity (collateral damage of Covid 19) to choose my new career path. Cooking has always been the heart of my family, and owning my food business has always been a dream of mine.

So why not move to a different country and make that dream happen? We as a family combined all of our skills and passions to create Acento: my passion for cooking and the determination and support of my wife, son and daughter.

With a menu of extravagant dishes, we wanted to bring flavors to everyone, with a twist.
Now a days, we offer a menu with food of our own creation. For example, our short rib sandwich or the baja fish bites, are things I have cooked for my family for years, and that allowed me to perfect the taste of it. Additionally we have designed a special menu for wine parings

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest struggles was really the starting point. not really knowing how to start a food business and with no experience in that area at all, getting all of the ideas into reality was a really hard (but fun) process. getting help with the identity and branding from the creative team was crutial for us to finally believe it was coming to life!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We partnered with Sammy Lam, owner of WanderLust Wine Co. First we worked on creating small bites to pair with the wines he offered such as Tapas or Charcuterie Boards. This evolved into full wine tasting tours with menus specially designed for collections of wines chosen from different specific regions. First Spain and currently Italy.
Acento is now known for sophisticated wine pairing bites and we have been very successful tickling our clients senses and delivering extraordinary experiences

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
This is my first time cooking professionaly! Cooking has been something that has been by my side for all my life, but it wasnt until now that I made it into my real work and my career.
