Meet Aliyah Hale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aliyah Hale.

Hi Aliyah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been involved in hair my whole life, dealing with the lion’s mane on my own head. Many of the things I do now have been self-taught over the past 12 years. I started practicing on my friend’s hair in high school and eventually continued learning new skills to earn a pocket change in college. I thought I would be some Marketing Mogul in a big office one day, but I soon realized corporate wasn’t for me, and doing hair was something I just couldn’t let go of. So I went on to braid hair full time in my home at first and then in a Salon, and now in my suite. But I’ve always loved giving women more convenience and confidence throughout the years.

Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Overall it has been a pretty smooth road. There will always be hurdles, like figuring out pricing according to your skill and paying your bills. Taking the leap of faith to go out on my own in a commercial space initially instilled fear, but I can’t accomplish anything as long as I take the necessary steps and read all the fine print. Being artistic and realistic don’t always go hand in hand, but I’m thankful for my business degree.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a full-time hair braider and a cosmetology student looking forward to expanding my services for my current and future clients. I specialize in scalp care to ensure comfort, growth, and retention. Right now, I’m known for my bohemian, human hair protective styles and creative color blends in braiding hair to create whatever color is desired. I think my color blending and my warm spirit set me apart. I like to make guests feel like they’re in a safe space to be them. I’m also constantly growing in my craft, allowing clients to be creative and myself so no one gets bored.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I am a songbird and used to be a collegiate athlete. I’m pretty shy about singing, so my clients never hear it. I’ve paid my dues in 6 am workouts. And I’m honestly thankful my collegiate career is behind me.
