Amy Michelle Frank

Amy Michelle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Good Vibe Dwelling in 2013. I remember sitting in my living room writing my business statement as if it were yesterday. GVD has been my side gig ever since.

I eventually starting utilizing resources to advertise such as Next Door, Facebook (personal & business profiles), Thumbtack & Houzz.

My love for organizing wasn’t something that I was always proud of. That definitely stems from my childhood. I eventually started to accept the fact that organizing brought me joy, it is my craft & I am pretty decent at it. It also helped when friends would tell me I could start a business doing organization & now I often hear that I should be charging more $$ for my services.

Over the years I have pulled back on promoting myself on different apps. I have my reasons, one being for safety.

I now mainly gain clients through referrals & now have referral perks.

It is always a passion of mine to do organizing full-time.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Overall, GVD has been a smooth road, as it has remained a side gig. It helps that I do not have a lot of overhead & it’s just me.

I will say, it is hard to get clients to leave a review-more so now then in the past. I’m not sure why that is, but I also don’t push for one.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I consider myself a professional organizer for residential & commercial spaces.

The bulk of my clients have hired me to do closet clean outs. I am happy I have been doing more room transformations as I enjoy the challenge and the result, but more importantly, I love hearing & seeing the client’s reaction when the space is complete.

I am most proud of the fact that Good Vibe Dwelling is mine-I created it, and it is my way of helping others feel comfortable in their own space. I love that organizing a space can also bring benefits to other areas of one’s life-peace, calm, focus, happiness, even weight loss!

What sets me apart from others is that I utilize what the client already has & then offer recommendations for more functional, practical, and savvy organizational storage solutions, should that be needed.

I like to utilize storage solutions already in place, but maybe in a more resourceful way – I love to repurpose! I will use a shoe box in a drawer to organize socks for example. Repurpose, reuse, reduce is what I like to keep in mind when organizing.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I would love to work on an organizing team. What that means for GVD, I’m not sure at the moment.

I would like to incorporate more services & generate more business, so I’d like to see that growth.
