Today we’d like to introduce you to Bethanie Phillips.
Hi Bethanie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’m Bethanie, a photographer born and raised in Austin, Texas! I picked up photography as a hobby as a high school sophomore. It has been nine years, and I have not put my camera down since! In May of 2021, I graduated from Dallas Baptist University with a degree in art with an emphasis in photography. I’m trying to capture as many moments on my camera as possible.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Every photographer experiences their own set of challenges. My biggest struggle personally has been being confident in myself and my work. Becoming the photographer I am today has taken a lot of work and patience! I had to trust the process and not give up when my business slowed down, or I didn’t get a lot of likes when I shared one of my photos online. In today’s social-media-driven culture, it is easy to define success in terms of how many followers you have on your social media platforms. In reality, what is more important is capturing moments for people that they can cherish forever. I have changed my mindset to think about the one instead of the many.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love photography! I’m a natural light and lifestyle photographer specializing in families, seniors, weddings, and everything in between. I don’t just want to pose you and be done. I want feelings to jump through the images we take together! My style is vibrant, warm, captivating, and story-oriented. I enjoy practicing color theory, skin tones, highlights, and shadows and creating a piece of art throughout the whole process, from conceptualization to the final edit. I want your images to be timeless, classic, and something you and your loved ones will cherish forever. But more importantly, I love people! I am so excited when I meet a new person and help create memories for them and their families that they get to hold onto for a lifetime! I know there are many photographers to choose from, but I want you to know that from reliving your wedding to preserving the best moments from your senior year of High School, I’m here for it all.
What matters most to you?
A fantastic perk of my job is meeting people from all walks of life. I desire a genuine connection because people are so much more than clients to me. I am grateful for all the beautiful friendships this occupation has gifted me. I enjoy capturing moments and memories that people will get to keep with them forever! Every age and stage in life is important, and photographs are the perfect way to remember the moments you and your loved ones will never want to forget.
