Meet Brandon DeMaris of The Good Wolf Experience

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon DeMaris.

Hi Brandon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For me it always comes back to music. I’m a musician myself and have always felt a sense of community and camaraderie amongst other creatives. I moved to Austin in 2004, at the time when the recording industry was crumbling, but live concerts were to thriving, especially in Austin. I had the privilege to work alongside some of the early change-makers and witness the economic impact that homegrown events like ACL Fest and SXSW had in attracting national and global talent, major brands, and contributing to the explosive development the city has seen ever since.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I hit a lot of dead ends in my early career following the traditional paths that were laid out for me. I have a degree in “Professional Music” from Berklee College of Music, which ultimately taught me the harsh reality and unlikely success of working musicians. In the first three years, I worked for highly reputable companies in the music industry ranging from unpaid internships to minimum wage, no benefits. This all served as inspiration to strike out on as an entrepreneur at the ripe age of 23 and started my own talent agency, booking touring artists across the US and Canada. Over the course of 20-years, that company has evolved to what is now The Good Wolf Experience, a national full-service events company.

When the entire world shut down for the pandemic, we learned just how unstable the events industry really is. Good Wolf had one service offering which was contingent of the ability for people to gather in public. This is actually what inspired us to explore our new ticketing service. Ticketing not only widened our service offerings, but it’s come in great timing where the general public is so fed up with TicketMaster, exorbitant fees and clunky processes. There is so much room to improve the way ticketing is being done, it’s likely to be our fastest revenue stream to scale.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Good Wolf Experience is a full-service event production company headquartered in Austin, TX. We produce unique and exceptional events all over the country, scaled from intimate gatherings to multi-day conferences and festivals. Our area of specialization is corporate events, concert production, and entertainment booking, and we recently launched a ticketing service to compete with Eventbrite and similar DIY ticket platforms.

When you show up to an event and the experience moves you, it’s because someone picked the right artist for the right crowd, in the right venue with the right production. While that may seem simple to do in theory, events are the summation of thousands details that can make (or break) the show. The difference with Good Wolf, is you get a team of seasoned event professionals obsessing and strategizing over thousands of micro details that before moving them into the realization of the show. We hire based on attitude over skillset. Our whole crew undergoes training on hospitality and customer service mindset. That’s what it takes to create well-executed event and ultimately The Good Wolf Experience.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Good Wolf works with clients of all shapes an sizes from small intimate gatherings to multi-day conferences and festivals. Our process begins with a discovery call and leads to a needs assessment where we assess if the event is feasible for Good Wolf to produce. Even if we determine we’re not a good fit for one another, I have seen clients gain a lot of valuable insight from those early meetings that help define vision, scope and budget.

Our ticketing service is another way that clients can gain a lot of value from The Good Wolf Experience without incurring a lot of upfront cost. Whereas most DIY ticket softwares like Eventbrite can be a real time suck, Good Wolf handles your ticketing for you. It’s our team who designs the landing page, runs the campaign and ultimately greets your guests at the door for check-in. Tell me that doesn’t take some weight off of a venue or event producer!
