Hi Byron, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My partner Tim Manson and I started XSpace a few years ago in Australia. Central Texas was a natural starting point to launch XSpace in the US because Austin’s demographic is similar to what worked for us in Australia. XSpace started out as a storage space for people who had luxury goods, but when the pandemic hit we discovered a new market for entrepreneurs and creatives looking to purchase unique spaces for their needs.

The success of our first Austin XSpace had led to exciting expansion plans, including a new space planned in Houston’s design district and several more locations planned to open in the next five years in other U.S. markets including Dallas, Las Vegas, and another location in Austin.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not a smooth road at all! Initially, no one wanted to invest in us we were a pioneering asset class, which is why I was the lead investor. Also, Covid set us back the full year of 2020 with standstill permitting in Austin, TX. Now we have institutional investors and a national pipeline of projects.
As you know, we’re big fans of XSpace. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
XSpace is a new commercial condo group. Our concept is a new type of commercial, non-residential real estate in the United States, but represents the shifting way in which people are working and using commercial space. Units can be used for office space, a showroom, a place to store fancy cars, a podcasting studio, or really whatever the owner-tenant wants. What’s so unique about this concept is that the tenant has the opportunity to own the space if they chose – leasing options are also available.
