Meet Emily Crocker of Dahlia Healing Arts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Crocker.

Hi Emily, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my bodywork and manual therapy career in 2007 when we lived in Bend, Oregon after leaving behind a career in design. I studied Reiki energy work before I went back to school for massage therapy and then continued my education to become a certified CranioSacral Therapist, Visceral Manipulation and myofascial release practitioner. I love how bodywork incorporates anatomy, kinesiology, and physiology as well as the more intuitive and energetic aspects of the human experience. Working with individual clients for over a decade has helped me to develop, trust and corporate my intuition into treating clients’ physical bodies.

For years, I have used my intuition to “show” me what the client’s body needs to heal which give my clients great outcomes as a result. Several years ago, I became aware of the energetic presence surrounding my clients when I was working with them. I began asking my clients for confirmation of who I was “seeing” and was amazed that the presence’s characteristics matched those of their loved ones who had passed. I have to admit that I was just as surprised as my clients that I could gather specific information about their loved ones and deliver messages that only they could have known.

“Ok,” I thought, “am I a Medium? Now what?” I knew very little about Mediums besides what I had seen in popular culture, so I enlisted the help of a psychic/medium who I knew to help me to decipher the difference between psychic information (intuition) and Mediumship (connecting with the consciousness of a person in Spirit). My mentor, Melissa Piel, helped to guide me to be able to interpret the images I was “seeing” with my mind’s eye. At that point, I read every book on the subject I could get my hands on – which makes for a very bizarre amazon.com history! I practiced with friends first and then friends of friends and I was shocked and encouraged by the specificity of the images I received and the messages of love and healing that were passed on from the other side to my practice clients.

I have since worked with several mentors and continued my formal studies with Lauren Robertson, a Medium in the UK, whose book The Medium in Manolos I devoured after hearing her on a podcast. Working with Lauren and connecting with other Mediums has been instrumental in my development to work professionally as an Evidential Medium. I consider these offerings to be a continuation of the healing work I have been doing for the past 15 years.

I guess that I always thought it was possible that the human soul or consciousness continued after the body’s physical death, but honestly, I had never spent a lot of time thinking about it and had always considered myself agnostic. A lot of people are drawn to learning about Mediumship after a loss of a loved one, but that was not my experience. I had never sought out the services of a Medium because I had never experienced that type of grief.

Being able to act as a conduit for people (and animals – pets come through too!) in Spirit has completely changed my view of our physical world as well as my relationship with death, and I love being able to connect people here on earth with the energy of their loved ones in order to offer healing and peace.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
From the time I realized that I am a Psychic/Medium to the time I began doing readings professionally had only been a couple of years. That being said, I believe that this journey was a lifetime in the making. Now looking back, I remember being a child who was terrified of “ghosts” for seemingly no reason. I remember thinking to myself that if ghosts exist and my grandparents or deceased family members really love me, then thy would NOT let me see them in Spirit.

I think I had to build up trust in my own intuition through trial and error over a decade of working with clients and learning professional ethics and personal boundaries. There is no doubt that my career as a bodyworker has prepared me to work as a psychic medium.

I’m still learning. I learn from each client everyday and I think my personal and professional curiosity and devotion to continuing education have been a great asset in expanding my practice to include psychic and mediumship readings.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Dahlia Healing Arts?
I started my massage therapy business in 2008 in Bend, Oregon. When we moved to Austin in 2010, I opened my doors to see clients in person under my massage therapy license. I have extensive training in CranioSacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation and energy work. In 2020 I began offering Distance Health sessions virtually when I could no longer see clients in person due to Covid-19. This allowed me to intuitively work with the physical body through the energy field and opened my eyes to the possibility of working with clients who aren’t in Austin.

I still run a busy manual therapy practice here in Zilker and also offer Distance Health, psychic readings and Mediumship sessions to clients all over the world.

I believe my dedication to continuing education sets me apart from a lot of practitioners. I love learning and bringing new skills and techniques to my work to help people heal. I am most proud of the client relationships I have built up over the years. I feel honored that my clients trust me, feel safe with me and continue to refer their friends and family to me. I don’t take my clients’ trust for granted and take the responsibility of working with people’s physical bodies, energetic bodies and loved ones who have passed very seriously.

I feel proud that I can help people find healing. Whether through psychic guidance, connecting with loved ones who have passed or manual therapy, I love connecting with people. Hopefully, a session with me can make them feel a bit better.
