Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My passion for animals inspired my decision to leave the corporate world and become a professional dog walker and pet sitter. Prior to establishing See Jane Walk, I was a communications executive for many high-profile global brands. After spending countless hours volunteering at the Austin Animal Center and walking and sitting for friends, I decided to fulfill my dream and work with animals full time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My business started in 2019 and was exceeding all expectations. I had big plans for growth in 2020, as many small businesses did (I’m sure). Then, COVID derailed everything. No one was going to work much less traveling. They could walk their own dog and didn’t need anyone to stay with their pet because there was no business or leisure travel. Then came the big question… do I scratch the business and go back to corporate once the world opens up again? The walking and sitting business dynamics have definitely changed post-covid, but I decided to stick with it. And, I glad I did.
