Meet Jeremy Spicer of SASI Leadership

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Spicer.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
SASI Leadership began in 2002, during my first year as an assistant band director at Cedar Park High School. I quickly recognized a gap in leadership training at the high school level and reached out to colleagues with the idea of creating a dedicated leadership training and consulting firm. That idea became SASI — short for Solutions and Specialized Innovations — though the name also began as a playful nod to a student who jokingly accused me of being “sassy” for wanting to improve on the leadership training they thought was already “perfectly fine.” The lighthearted nickname stuck, and it’s been part of our culture ever since.

Since our inception, we’ve been honored to serve nearly 100,000 students across the United States — and our reach continues to grow as we expand into new areas of leadership training and organizational development. What started as a small, bold idea in a Texas band hall has evolved into a nationally recognized program that inspires the next generation of leaders to think bigger, lead better, and make a lasting impact.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like any meaningful endeavor, our journey hasn’t been without its challenges. As a team, we’ve always committed to meeting obstacles with openness, patience, and a willingness to adapt. One of the greatest tests came during COVID-19, when our work — built on in-person connection and experiential learning — had to be completely reimagined for a virtual environment. We didn’t just make the shift; we leaned into it, developing a virtual model that still engaged and inspired students while providing real value to their organizations.

Remarkably, we not only maintained our client base during that period — we grew it. The experience strengthened our belief that leadership development should be accessible to all students, regardless of circumstances. Post-COVID, we’ve navigated rising costs and changing school budgets by creating flexible, sustainable models that ensure every student who wants leadership training can receive it. Through it all, our mission and commitment to students have never wavered.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
From the beginning, SASI has been about more than teaching skills, It’s about transforming people and organizations. We are an organizational improvement group dedicated to developing confident, capable student leaders. Our work spans public and private schools of all sizes, serving groups from student councils to marching bands to athletic teams. We believe that when students are equipped with a deep understanding of people, organizations, systems, and processes, they become empowered to thrive both within their organizations and in life.

Through a blend of experiential learning, engaging activities, and proven developmental processes, we provide students with the mindset, tools, and confidence to elevate leadership at both the individual and group levels.
