Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica King.
Hi Jessica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I was 16, I started lifting weights. I loved how it made me feel and look and the confidence it gave me. I knew I wanted to help others achieve their goals and feel how I felt. When I went to college, I studied exercise science and became a personal trainer at the college I attended. After college, I started off working at a corporate gym. This was a great base for learning everything I needed to know before starting my own business. I was already doing everything independently, such as gaining clients, scheduling, payments, etc. The only difference was I was an employee and had a boss. I made the switch almost a year ago, and it has been my decision yet. There’s so much professional and personal growth when you create change in your life. I am now running a successful personal training business online and in person.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wish I hadn’t stayed at the corporate company as long as I did. It has been a little rocky of a road, but not terrible. I was scared to make the switch. I had never felt more stress-free, relaxed, happy, and successful when I did.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Jess King Fitness?
I run an online, in-person personal training business. I work with a variety of clients from ages 16-85. I focus on functional training, kettlebell training, and weight loss. What sets me apart from others is my compassion for my clients. I want every client to succeed and genuinely care about each person I work with. I get to know my clients from a professional and personal level. I am their coach and there for them when they have had a bad day. Exercising can be one of the most beneficial things when you’re angry, sad, upset, and happy. I am most proud of how I hold myself humble. I continue learning more about my industry and admit I don’t know everything. I love referrals. If I don’t know it, I will send you someone who does and whom I trust. I want your readers to know exercise should be fun, challenging, and rewarding. If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is making a difference in this world. I want to help as many people as I can when it comes to exercise and nutrition. It is quite simple, but only some have the resources or the accountability. I want to help with that.
