Today we’d like to introduce you to Jo Placencio.
Hi Jo, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
First and foremost I am a mama to my son Dante’. Danté is and always will be the brightest light shining in my life, my first and always true love. Being his mother has been a pure blessing in my life. I live a beautiful life with my soul mate Chris and Our fur baby Spartacus. I am a purebred Texas girl. I grew up in a very small town called West Columbia and, eventually, I left and moved to Houston. That is where I raised my son until he was in 8th grade and, then, we moved to LA. While we were there for ten years, it was definitely not where my heart was. I was always drawn back to Texas and loved Austin, so we made the move and have been there ever since. Growing up in Texas shaped my love for beauty. I was raised to at the least wear your mascara and lipstick when leaving your home. I have always had a love for all thing’s beauty and skincare, I work in pharmaceutical research by day, but I found myself attending aesthetics school at night simply because I wanted to learn more about the function of the skin, how to treat it best and how to look my best. It’s always been a passion. I have a science brain I love to learn how things work and the ingredients in products always fascinated me. I am a firm believer in following your gut and intuition. I knew that I wanted to do something in beauty and fashion two things that I love.
At one time, I had plans for a beauty bar. We’re talking nails, organic tans, blowouts, getting makeup done, lashes, all things glam. I never could follow through with it something inside me said that wasn’t meant for me. In my meditations, I have been meditating for 18 years now. It is a huge part of my life. I would continually ask what my purpose was. In the middle of one of my meditations, “Peace Love Glam” blog came to me. I knew in my heart and soul this was it! With a blog I could share my love for all things Fashion, Clean Beauty, Soulfulness, Wellness and Fitness. When you find your purpose everything falls into place. And boy has it! I am so honored to work with so many beautiful brands and do what I love. I want to inspire millions of women to believe that no matter where you are in life, to always believe in yourself! We can be and do anything we set your mind and heart to.. Believe you can and you will! I hope to inspire everyone around me with PEACE LOVE & GLAM
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing in this life is smooth or easy. It’s like a roller coaster there are good times and scary times. I believe life gives you what you need to evolve and become that beautiful soul you were put on this earth to be. Fear is my biggest motivator it drives me to push through because I know that on the other side of fear is bliss. My favorite quote is by Wayne Dyer – Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change. This quote changed my life. Our mindset is everything if you wake up and believe it will be a good day! It will be because what we think we experience.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the creator and founder of PeaceLoveGLam Blog. I am not your average 20-40 years young blogger; I am 51 and I am so proud of where I am in my life. I have a lifetime of experiences I want to share. I am a mom, I have been a single mom, I have overcome many obstacles on my journey. I love to share those triumphs and inspire others. If my story helps 1 person or inspires them to never give up, my heart is happy. Wow I have so many proud moments, I wake up proud every day of what I have accomplished thus far. My most memorable – Co-Founding Glam Soiree it is an Intentional Soiree where women of all different backgrounds and professions come together to celebrate life, support and inspire each other, set intentions for the future – and be GLAM while doing it all. It’s a beautiful passion project that my partner in shine and I created for women in Austin to have a place to come to feel supported. And I have recently added Reiki Master to my list of proud accomplishments I am so excited for this chapter of my journey. Helping others feeds my soul.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I don’t see the world of content creators going anywhere any time soon. We live in a digital world and bloggers are here to stay! From a business perspective, content creators play an essential role in content strategy.
