Meet Jordan Correa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Correa.

Hi Jordan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was the age of four when I fell in love with music, I heard my aunt singing and I knew that I wanted to do the same. I started singing at that same age. I submerged myself into learning about music and started learning the piano, it was the first instrument I’ve learned and I loved every note. I was pretty shy as a kid, but I started to find my voice in high school performances and the more I got into music the more confident I became, I was a different person on stage and I loved feeling so strong. I started making my own music in ’16 when my friend who was in a band had said her producer was looking to record more artists and I jumped at the opportunity, I made some tracks on my phone, wrote down some lyrics, and started working with him. I released my first Ep “don’t tear yourself down” in ’19 on all streaming platforms, and started performing around San Antonio. Singing my own music was a different kind of nervous, but it felt so freeing at the same time.

When the pandemic hit, everything closed so performing stopped, but it gave me an opportunity to find new avenues of music, a new sound, and different harmonies in different genres. I began to explore my ability to further create melodies and started growing into my craft, building my voice, and discovering more originality. I started modeling for exposure, thanks to my friend Victoria Scott, and its made me learn new things about myself. I’ve only just started, but I sure do love an adventure. I want my music to make people feel something. Music is healing, comforting, therapeutic, and so much more. Music is made to be felt and have us escape to a world where it’s okay to feel comfortably, whatever that feeling may be. Whether is happiness, sadness, anger, pain, it all leads to us connecting with ourselves and connecting with each other. I am currently creating my second EP which will showcase three original tracks, and look forward to continuing to grow in my artistry and in seeing how it makes people feel.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. There has been mental blocks, writer’s block, emotional damage that sometimes isn’t always processed quickly, and all of those struggles make it hard to create sometimes. It can be so therapeutic, but trying to put that into words or a melody isn’t always easy when your emotions pull you in all different directions.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At the moment I don’t have the most exciting job. I work in collections for spectrum and it’s anything but glamorous. However, I always seem to have a smile on my face coming into work and leaving for the day, I do everything I can to have the best energy because a smile, an act of kindness, or something considerate towards someone else can turn someone’s whole day around.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is waking up to take trips with my family. I’d feel so excited to do something we don’t usually do because it didn’t happen very often. To get away from reality for a minute and just not have any worries.
