Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliana Weiss-Roessler.
Hi Juliana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I created my marketing agency when I was pregnant with my first child. I had already almost a decade working in digital marketing, including spearheading the creation of the web presence for Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan.
I knew I didn’t want to stop working. I knew I was good at my work. But I didn’t want work to be my whole life anymore. And corporate America meant that the odds were stacked against me. So starting my own digital marketing agency seemed like the right next step.
And when it came time to hire help for my business, I knew I wanted to provide others — particularly women and minorities — with the support, care, and flexibility I wish existed in U.S. corporate culture. I believe we deliver better service because of our commitment to work-life balance. And we’re able to attract more talented and dedicated people to our team.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Over the 25+ years working in digital marketing, I’ve been able to see the ups and downs of the small and mid-sized businesses we serve. Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart! And my journey has been no exception.
This business started with just my husband and me. Our focus at first was copywriting and SEO, but I eventually got training in everything from graphic design to web development to support our clients. And we developed a network of freelancers we could turn to when overwhelmed with work.
COVID made me realize things needed to change. A decent chunk of our business suddenly dried up, and we were forced to pare back to just my husband and myself to weather the storm. I realized if I really wanted to grow the business beyond us, I had to pull myself out of the day-to-day work as much as possible and start building a team in-house.
That’s what I’ve been doing for the last few years, slowly bringing on new team members as we grow. This has also allowed me to be more active in the Austin community. I’m now an avid volunteer, serving as an Ambassador for both the Round Rock Chamber and the Alignable Alliance of North Austin. I’m a leader of a Girl Scout troop of more than 65 scouts, a volunteer educator for the CDFI nonprofit PeopleFund, an officer for the Cedar Park–Leander Lions Club, and co-founder of the Cedar Park Walk for Peace.
That community involvement directly strengthens our agency’s work. It keeps us closely connected to what’s happening locally, allows us to facilitate meaningful business connections, maintain strong relationships with event venues, and help clients secure speaking opportunities with local organizations. Plus, it’s a lot of fun!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about WR Digital Marketing?
WR Digital Marketing is a full-service, women-run marketing agency that partners with growing businesses and nonprofits to turn strategy into measurable results.
Like many other agencies, we can execute across branding, website design and development, SEO, paid advertising, content, email marketing, social media, and integrated campaigns. But we go beyond that, helping clients secure podcast interviews, speaking engagements, and meaningful connections with other businesses.
What truly sets us apart, though, is our strategy-first approach.
We have found that many organizations think of marketing as a collection of tactics—or lump marketing, advertising, and sales together as if they are the same thing. They are not. Early in every engagement, we take the time to demystify how marketing actually works so clients understand what drives results and why.
Marketing is not magic. It is a repeatable process: plan, implement, measure. Then you go back to the beginning — create a new plan with more information than you had initially.
Success comes from consistently improving what works, letting go of what does not, and building a clear, trustworthy connection with your audience over time. What we are most proud of is being known as a thoughtful, honest partner who educates clients, cares about their success, and helps them grow with intention instead of chasing noise
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
As a kid, I created a little business called Season Sellers. The idea was I’d help neighbors with whatever they needed for that season—for example, raking leaves in the fall and washing cars in the summer.
My dad would bring his laptop home on weekends, and I’d design flyers and ask him to print them at work. Then I’d stuff them into every mailbox in the neighborhood. Looking back, it makes me laugh. Turns out I was already an entrepreneur and marketer at a pretty young age, even if I didn’t have the words for it yet.
