Meet Kelsey Adams of Austin,Tx

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Adams

Hi Kelsey, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up in Rayville, Louisiana, I always had a love for hair, but I wasn’t entirely sure what my future held after high school. All I knew was that I wanted to make people feel good about themselves, and hair was my way of doing that. So, without hesitation, I enrolled in cosmetology school right after graduation.

I attended Toni & Guy Academy in Dallas, Texas, and in 2011, I officially stepped into the world of beauty as a licensed cosmetologist. Eager to start my career, I moved back home to Louisiana, where I worked independently, building my clientele and honing my skills. But deep down, I knew I wanted to push myself further.

In 2015, I moved to Austin, Texas, where I became a stylist and manager at a blow-dry bar. That experience pushed me to master fast, high-impact styling, which later fueled my passion for event styling—weddings, editorial shoots, and special events. But it wasn’t until 2018, when I joined Propaganda Hair Group, that my career truly transformed. There, I went through an extensive color specialist program, which gave me the foundation to master my craft in a whole new way.

Today, I’m proud to be part of Ladybird Society on South Lamar, where I specialize in blondes, dimensional color, and effortless styling. I’m also passionate about event styling, creating stunning looks for weddings, editorial shoots, and special events. I continue to grow, create, and help my clients feel their absolute best. Fourteen years into my career, my love for hair is stronger than ever. From Rayville to Austin, every step of my journey has shaped me into the stylist I am today—one who believes that hair is more than just a look; it’s an experience, a confidence booster, and a way to make a lasting impact on people’s lives.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was starting over after being a hairstylist for 7 years and transitioning into an internship color program. It was tough to go back to the basics after already having built a career, but I knew it was necessary to push myself and take my skills to the next level. It required a lot of humility, patience, and a willingness to learn, but looking back, it was one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve made. The struggle made me a more skilled and confident stylist, and it gave me the foundation to truly master color.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in blonde, dimensional color, and effortless styling. I’m known for creating natural, lived-in looks that complement my clients’ individual styles. I’m a perfectionist, which pushes me to constantly refine my craft, though it can be both my strength and weakness at times. What sets me apart is my adaptability and commitment to continued education, ensuring I stay on top of trends and techniques. I also take pride in building meaningful connections with my clients, that is so important to me.

Another big passion of mine is working on event styling for weddings, editorial shoots, and special occasions.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ve been fortunate to have many mentors and supporters along the way. All of my educators at Toni&Guy played a huge role in shaping the beginning of my career, teaching me foundational skills that I still rely on today. I also owe a lot to Piyushkumar Raga and Jennifer Plaia, who were my color mentors. They pushed me to new levels, expanding my knowledge and really pushing me to refining my technique. Of course, my mom and dad have always been my biggest cheerleaders, supporting me every step of the way and encouraging me to chase my dreams.
