Today we’d like to introduce you to Keon’ Ta Collins.
Hi Keon’ Ta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I first started music with my best friend Isaac, who recently passed away years ago. We would always write songs and rap our verses or what we had to each other. I kept at it because he saw something I never would have seen in myself. After he passed away, I had to focus on my work and craft to be the superstar in rap he had always seen. I got to where I am because of him and my other friends around me supporting me always. If you stay down with the people you love and they are on the same mission as you, you’re bound to be great.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The struggles I had along the way were life itself. I always put everyone before myself, and it never goes well. I had to learn to love myself and know what I should have in my life and things that shouldn’t be around me. I always thought you could change things to fit how you like it. Sadly, I had to learn if it isn’t you, it isn’t true. I had to tell myself sometimes it’s okay if some people get left behind so you can be the best version of yourself.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an Artist, and my stage name is “Babyk 99.” People and other artists call me “Babyk,” but I am slowly evolving into a new stage name, “chozn,” pronounced (chosen). I make music for the people. By people, I mean the world; I will be the voice for people who wish they could say what I put into my songs. I’m known for the main things, music and clothing, that I have coming soon; my clothing brand, “Dead Angels,” will be released sometime in 2024! I can’t wait to show everyone. What sets me apart from others is the way I am always myself. I don’t try to be something I’m not to fit in or be accepted. That is one of the main reasons I have a well-rounded respect for others.
We’d love to hear about what you think about risk-taking.
It is a great thing to take a risk. You never know the outcome of it, and that’s the lovely thing about it. When you take a risk, that is your moment to put it all on the table and give 101% into what you are going hard for. That risk could change your life instantly, depending on the circumstances. Imagine if you had the chance to change everything but never took the risk to change it or see it, and the blessing goes to the next person. You never know when you’ll ever be able to get a chance like that again! That’s why you should take a risk when you have a chance.
