Meet Linsey Hart (formerly Krauss McNew) of Communications with Linsey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Linsey Hart (formerly Krauss McNew).

Hi Linsey, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Getting started is a funny way to put it. It felt more like a slow ramp into the unknown while I escaped a sinking ship. A decade ago, I barely escaped 2015 alive after our son died, shockingly at 39.5 weeks and going on 90-days of maternity leave from a toxic marketing agency where I led the media and engagement team for its technology practice. Returning to the office, where people often forgot my son died was extremely painful and triggering everyday. Someone would ask about children atleast daily. I had to start getting very comfortable deciding how I wanted to respond that would honor our son’s life and also my current needs, which were constantly changing. After navigating this environment for a few months, I initiated a plan with the executive team and HR on better ways communication can validate, heal and support people returning to work especially those returning after tragedy. The team made changes to its family leave policies and incorporated other suggestions from our time together. It also showed me through the process that this was something I wanted to do more and at my own pace without having to also deal with so many painful. constant triggers. In January 2016, I designed and executed my own website and by the end of the first month I had on-boarded three new clients. This entrepreneurship ride has been a wild one, punctuated by full seasons of more growth, maturity, loss and joy than I could ever have imagined. I’m currently in the middle of my newest transition as I leave my maiden and married names behind to take on a new name, planting fresh seeds for a new legacy: Linsey Hart (formerly Krauss McNew). I’m also shifting my business name to Communications with Linsey and refreshing my website to highlight clarity and guidance. My services are staying the same, while I keep focusing on what I enjoy the most as a creative, communications consultant and advisor.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It certainly hasn’t been a smooth road. I remember as I was transitioning from an employee to a business owner one client wanted to come with me and we had to navigate some very awkward and transparent conversations. Everything worked out in the end, but it was dicey for a couple weeks. It isn’t a matter of if you’ll have a struggles as a business owner, its a matter of when and building support with systems and a strong foundation that embrace flexibility, change and growth.

As you know, we’re big fans of Communications with Linsey . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I specialize in conscious communication services for intentional leaders. I am not here to follow trends–I’m here to ignite them and use them on behalf of brands and personalities to support their work! Amplifying messages and movements while remaining culturally conscious, I help the right spokespeople gain visibility, grow authority and momentum among aligned audiences at the right times. Communications is the most visible role among key stakeholders and buyers today, yet continues to remain the least invested in position across most organizations. At the same time, the media landscape continues to dramatically decline and shift at a greater rate than ever before. This makes the traditional role of communications and public relations responsibilities currently counter to the greater value they can bring. Today’s working environments require fresh, integrated approaches to communications. I’m open to take on new projects right now and am available in couple capacities (1) as a communications project advisor and (2) as a fractional communications leader with regular monthly campaigns. With a blend of creativity, strategy and heart, I work with teams nurturing ideas into impact.

What were you like growing up?
I loved to tell stories — tall tales and white lies, have always enjoyed peoples reactions from laughter and when something moved them deeply. When I wasn’t telling stories I was listening and offering space to witness with full presence. Growing up I also enjoyed writing, reading, dancing, singing and building, not too far off from what I still love doing today.
