Meet Luisa Fernanda Hincapie of Vintique Collective

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luisa Fernanda Hincapie.

Luisa Fernanda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Back in 2019, before the pandemic, my partner and I opened our first store. Over the years, we’ve gained invaluable experience and are always looking for new opportunities and ventures. A couple of years after launching our first store, I felt the urge to open another location, though I wasn’t sure where it would be. Then, last year, when the Austin Antique Mall closed, we saw an opportunity to create a curated antique mall with a fresh look and feel. We connected with some of the long-standing dealers from AAM—many of whom had been in the business for 20 to 25 years—and together, we launched Vintique Collective.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the challenges we’ve faced in moving to a different part of town is accessibility. While the city of Taylor has made significant improvements, there’s still progress to be made, especially in increasing foot traffic and attracting visitors. Like any business, we’ve also felt the impact of economic shifts influenced by politics. Opening during an election year was a new experience for us, adding another layer of uncertainty. On top of that, our new dealers had to adapt—not only to a location 45 minutes away but also to adjusting their pricing to fit the new market.

As you know, we’re big fans of Vintique Collective . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a carefully curated antique mall, home to around 35 dealers. While we may be smaller in size, we take pride in our strong advertising efforts and deep sense of community. Our goal is to provide our dealers with a well-organized, seamless space to showcase and sell their vintage and antique finds.

What sets us apart from the competition is our competitive hours and strategic advertising. My partner has built a strong online presence, which helps attract both repeat and new customers. Beyond business, we are passionate about community involvement and supporting organizations that make a positive impact, such as Break the Silence.

What I’m most proud of is creating a space where people can step away from their daily stresses—whether they’re reminiscing over nostalgic finds or gathering with friends and family in a welcoming environment. We love bringing people together and fostering meaningful connections.
