Today we’d like to introduce you to Lydia Galarza
Hi Lydia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am originally from Austin!
Although, I did not grow up in Austin (moved when I was young to NC) but I always considered Austin home. I moved back 3.5 years ago from Boston MA. Where I lived for 20 years.
In Boston, I worked in the hospitality industry (bartending). Later, I worked in nursing, in some of the most prestigious hospitals. I knew I didn’t want to continue that path (covid) when I moved back to Austin.
I needed to work, so I went back behind the bar, however, I knew I wanted to do something different… Hmmm, I should start my own mobile bartending company??
I started 5 O’clock Somewhere-Mobile Bartending Services and Event Staffing.
In the very beginning, I worked events solo, long hours, made mistakes, and eventually creating something I am extremely proud of!
2 years later: I have a wonderful team of incredible bar staff ( I call them the 5 O.clock Bar Squad!) , and have an amazing assistant!!
I have also expanded in Boston, Ma (my second home)
Our goal is to create an incredible bar service, amazing drinks, and unparalleled customer service!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Yes and No!
Let me explain…
Working private events I am not a stranger of, however, figuring out marketing, how to price my events, who is my audience, how much supplies should I buy, social media, and so much more! I really didn’t have anyone to talk to, so I did my best, hence, the part in making mistakes. I truly, believe all mistakes/fails are learning experiences that allow me to be better! I am human after all.
To be honest, I am really good at this entrepreneur thing! LOL
I am quick on my toes and problem solving is my Love Language!
I am thankful I have found a consistent team that are aways ready to work the next event!
Shout out to my assistant, Millie C., she has been a godsend!

How do you think about luck?
