Meet Mallory Brooks of Run Beyond

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mallory Brooks.

Hi Mallory, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My husband and I founded Spectrum Trail Racing in 2014 with the goal of creating rugged trail races with big celebrations at the finish line. We have created ten unique races while we coach runners at Rogue Running. We also directed the Rogue Trail Series from 2018 – 2020. I have been an endurance runner since first moving to Austin in 2007. I have completed several 50k races and earned the Fastest Known Time achievement for the 93-mile Wonderland Trail and the 90-mile quad-crossing of the Grand Canyon (completed May 2021).

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Along the way, we have had a son, Paxton, who has brought so much enjoyment to life in the outdoors. We love involving him in our work and having him at the races with us. We deal with typical small business struggles: hiring assistants, dealing with constantly multi-tasking, and a never ending list of to-do’s. We often struggle with turning off our working brain and try to not bring work to the dinner table!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We have recently created a new business, called Run Beyond. Through this company, we will host more trail races in west Texas and Colorado. Run Beyond is a community of like-minding, hard-working trail runners. They have community and accountability through one another. The three coaches (Jason Schlarb, Jason Brooks, and myself) also provide virtual coaching with a focus on mobility and strength training. I am most proud of the all-inclusive vibe and the motivation we get to provide.
