Meet Mallory McCully of Simplify Concierge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mallory McCully.

Hi Mallory, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When COVID hit in 2020, it undoubtedly had an impact on everyone’s lives. My experience, being in college at the time, caused me to question what I wanted for my future. I was studying Psychology, and loved the material, but was failing to find an end goal for my career in the field. I unenrolled from college, without a clear plan for the future. Some time went by, and eventually, I found myself in the midst of a move to Raleigh, NC. I absolutely loved the city of Raleigh and was determined to find my route in life. After struggling to make ends meet, I was incredibly blessed to land a role working for Consider It Done, a concierge company run by a wonderful woman named Sherri Durbin. While I had done this same kind of personal assistance work for many years, I had worked directly for individuals. I had no idea a company like this existed. While working for Consider It Done, I assisted clients with home organization, holiday party assistance, many moving jobs, errand services, and so much more. I felt like I had found my calling, from being a young child color coding my closet, to now working for a company that specialized in organization and home management, I couldn’t get enough.

As time went on, I discovered something that would prove to be the pivotal point of my journey. While spending hundreds of hours organizing closets, pantries, garages, spare bedrooms, and kitchens, may seem mundane to some, I realized the work I was doing had a direct correlation to my passion for mental health. Remember the path I swayed away from in college because my advisors left me discouraged with career options? I found it once again when I saw the tear in the mother’s eye, who had been too busy to prioritize her garage since moving into their new home. I saw it in the sigh of relief as I helped the daughter move her elderly parents into assisted living. I saw it in the woman’s smile as she told me the stories behind the pictures as we packed up her home to move closer to her family. These were the moments of my life when I realized this is what I was meant to do. So this year, I moved back home to Texas to launch Simplify Concierge, my very own concierge company.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t know many people who have quit their job to start a business and has had a smooth road. There have definitely been bumps in the road, and there are inevitable ones to come. One of the challenges I have faced is educating people on what a concierge service is. Many people have preconceived ideas that celebrities are the only people who use personal assistance, or that they feel like they are failing if they hire someone to help them in their homes. The way I see it is delegating is a part of every workforce, business, and team. Hiring a concierge service to assist you in your home makes you more successful in all aspects of your life. If you get comfortable with delegating, you can spend more time with your family, and commit fully to your projects at work, all the while having less stress and guilt for prioritizing yourself. In fact, I still have to remind myself to delegate tasks in my home and business. As many entrepreneurs can attest, wearing all the hats is only doable for so long.

As you know, we’re big fans of Simplify Concierge. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
To sum up my company, Simplify Concierge; if you can think of it, we can do it! We keep up with the weekly tidying, laundry, and errands. During the holidays, we set up your decorations, shop for the presents, wrap them, and assist at your holiday party so you can enjoy it just as much as your guests! Is your family moving? Simplify Concierge will come to your home with boxes, tape, and labels, and get you packed in an organized fashion. If you are moving locally, we’ll also unpack and organize your new home. Moving is stressful; we take care of the logistics so you can enjoy your new home and all that comes with it. For Realtors, busy families, and entrepreneurs, we manage your home from start to finish. Many of our clients utilize our service in their investment properties that they can’t be present to manage. While you are at work or on vacation and need a contractor to come to your home, we will be present to ensure everything goes smoothly. Simplify Concierge is not a cleaning or childcare company.

Simplify Concierge is known for superior service that you can trust in your home, and that’s why Austin turns to Simplify Concierge. We are bonded and insured, and our employees are trained to provide the highest level of personal assistance to meet our clients’ diverse needs. The thing that sets us apart from other concierge services, is the attention to detail from start to finish. My top priority as founder and CEO is to prioritize both my clients and employees in the highest regard, as I believe the direct result of that is quality, long-lasting service. I want the readers to know that I am not a business owner who puts on a suit and barks orders. I care about my employees, I care about my clients, and I care immensely about the services that Simplify Concierge provides.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
While I believe luck has a role in some stories, I don’t observe the idea of it too often. In my eyes, luck is “success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one’s own actions.” I know that in the venture of entrepreneurship, there will be success, and there will be failure, but I choose to lean hard to my personal values, work ethic, and commitment to make my own ‘luck’. When my head hits the pillow at night, I can rest knowing I’ve done everything in my power to work towards my goals, and if luck plays a role in that, then so be it.
