Today we’d like to introduce you to Play Marcel.
Hi Marcel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in Michigan. Me and my siblings grew up listening to many different genres of music. From country to rap to R&B and Spanish music. Music runs through our veins. Eventually I started writing my own songs. After getting a taste of spotlight on stage, I decided to dedicate my time to start a career in the music industry.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Creating a work of art is never a smooth road. It takes focus, and staying focused in a distracting world is a difficult task. For me at least. It takes effort to balance school, work, and my passion and still maintain a healthy lifestyle. It can get lonely when I’m buried in responsibility.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I write lyrics, record songs, and create visuals to express the story behind those lyrics. I am most proud of my songwriting skills as they seem to have improved over the last 10 years. I’m not afraid to take risks and jump into the fire for the purpose of growth and experience. I know I will always rise above again.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Everything will be faster. People will have shorter attention spans. Music makers will have to adapt to the market and create art that is quick to grab their attention, while keeping the magic in the art itself.
