Meet Marcello Murphy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcello Murphy.

Hi Marcello, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After Lovejoys closed my wife Tasha and I were in limbo until we ran into our friend Miguel Jimenez one night and he was saying a bar he owned wasn’t doing very good. After a few persuasive beverages, we talked him into letting us take over and create a new bar. If we were able to pay off their debt, we’d become 1/3 owners and they would remain silent partners. The Lost Well was born! We wanted to have a bar that reflected our personalities not passing fads and trends. We set out for the slow burn. We’ve been lucky enough to have an amazing staff and have worked with some of the best bands in underground punk rock and metal. We’re The Lost Well and we play Rock n Roll!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not smooth at all. Mostly due to rent prices while trying to be a cheap place to hang. I probably shouldn’t be too specific but the landlord is doing pretty good for himself. I’ll say that.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m super proud of this place. We do everything on our own terms. Maybe not financially smart but it’s completely rewarding. The people that like it love it. I feel like dives like this are a dying breed especially in this town.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Like the mural says, “The friendliest bar you’ve ever been too scared to walk into”.
