Today we’d like to introduce you to Marie Commisso.
Hi Marie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I arrived here, as a body and energy worker, in what seems quite a convoluted way but in hindsight, it makes perfect sense and I needed to experience every step along the way to thrive today. My geographic path has been via New York, England, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas (Houston), Indonesia, back to Texas (Houston), Australia, and landed back stateside in Wimberley September 2016. The first time I visited Wimberley was about 2003 while living and working in Houston for an oil and gas company as a Geoscientist. At that time I remember telling the friends I was traveling with that I would somehow find myself living in Wimberley one day.
In 2016, after living in Australia for almost seven years, my divorce was soon to be finalized, my consulting work as a petroleum geologist had dried up, and it was time to move anywhere other than where I was living. I was essentially jobless, homeless, and discovering what my purpose was to be in this world and at the same time was not worried or fretting about what was next because Wimberley was waiting for me. Healing a variety of my own illnesses and heartaches with western medicine and traditional talk therapy were helpful but not fully effective for me therefore I reached out to the unknown world of holistic healing, reiki, hypnotherapy, acupuncture, essential oils/Raindrop Technique, mediumship, native healing (Balinese/Japanese/Native American/Aboriginal/Shamanic/Curandera), massage therapy, craniosacral therapy, somatic emotional release, healing waters, yoga, sound therapy, meditation, spiritual guidance, energetic healing, and any alternative therapy I could find or that found me. Each has played a role in my own journey of discovery and wellness.
As a scientist, I really feel I needed to get to my rock bottom to be able to open myself to something other than something science has proven. Once I felt the transformations and healing and joy and experienced truly getting to know myself, I wanted to learn many of these therapies to share with others. I built faith around not only the practices but the lifestyle. Now science is coming along and supporting some of these practices too. My analytical self is happy about that even though my “knowing” self has no need for the science. I am honored, humbled and surprised every day I work with clients that I am able to feel and see and be present in support of whatever is needed on a given day. It may seem a far stretch for some people to comprehend the jump from master of geoscience to working with individuals every day using holistic healing practices but to me, it is all about uncovering the history and exploring the layers at every scale to support what to focus on, what to clear out, and what to leave behind.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If someone had told me 15 years ago that I would be an alternative therapist working with all sorts of mind, body, and spirit issues one-on-one with individuals I definitely would not have believed them. The road was rocky, windy, and at times felt nearly impassable. It became much smoother once I was able to open myself up to more than what I could learn in a book. Books of course have been of utmost importance and I’ve read and read and read but putting those topics into practice and being open to all that is, is what I feel helped the road become smoother. Being willing to seek out others’ assistance, wisdom, knowing, and support has also been key to my own personal wellness journey. I believe the only way I am able to fulfill the purposeful living and work I do today was to be as whole I can be first. It is a never-ending journey.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I could list off a slew of manual therapies and energy techniques I mix into any given wellness session but really what I am known for is supporting individuals wherever they are in their journey, creating a space where healing can occur, and invoking the deepest sense of calm within each person that is possible on a given day. I also like to say that I really like neck pain, headaches, and migraines because I can often feel into those ailments and offer relief. Perhaps what sets me apart from others is not being attached to any specific outcomes and instead am able to follow the lead of each person’s body and energy letting it show me the way while I integrate all the tools I have learned along the way. I’ve been told many times “I can feel the love coming out of your hands’. I am most proud to be present, witness, and assist with this loving attention to anyone who trusts me enough to get on my table and am very proud of them when they allow themselves to feel it too.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Being flexible, adaptable, and relatable in any situation are important characteristics to success for me. Perhaps even more important is the ability to work with compassion without taking on other people’s trauma, illness, or pain.

I loved reading about this young lady. She has always been a super smart, sensitive, compassionate person from the time she was little. I would know because I’m her Mom!!! For a long time now I have said she has ” healing hands” and I have personally felt the love in them and the love that comes thru them. She is one of the brightest lights of my life……
