Hi Marlo, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my training career with a strong interest in helping people feel better, move better, and build confidence through fitness. What began as a passion for health and performance quickly turned into a commitment to guiding others through personalized, results-driven programs.
Over time, I’ve developed my approach by working closely with clients of different backgrounds and goals, focusing on accountability, consistency, and building sustainable habits. That experience ultimately led me to Blackbird Fitness, where I’ve been able to grow both as a coach and as a professional.
At Blackbird, I’ve continued to refine my training style, emphasize clear communication, and deliver a high standard of service to every client. Being part of this team has allowed me to elevate my coaching while helping clients achieve meaningful, lasting results.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My path in training hasn’t been without challenges. I started in New York City, working in clients’ homes and small gym settings, which taught me how to be adaptable, resourceful, and client-focused from the very beginning.
When I moved to Austin, I took a bigger leap and decided to open my own gym. That process came with its share of obstacles—finding the right space, building a client base in a new city, and navigating the ups and downs of growing a business from the ground up. There were definitely moments of uncertainty, but I stayed committed, kept a positive mindset, and continued to put in the work.
Now, 12 years later, that persistence has paid off. What started as a leap of faith has grown into Blackbird Fitness, and the journey has shaped not only the business, but the way I coach, lead, and support my clients today.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned throughout my journey is patience. From starting out in New York to building Blackbird in Austin, nothing came instantly. Growth—both in business and with clients—takes time, consistency, and trust in the process.
