Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Onkar Ryan.
Hi Mary Onkar, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was first introduced to Kundalini practice in Los Angeles in 2006, I had just relocated to California from Colorado. At the time, I was looking to make a career shift and stumbled upon Golden Bridge, a local yoga studio. My background had been in luxury retail and I had yet to fully understand what was in store for me as I entered into the yoga community. I immediately felt a connection to a greater purpose that inspired so much of the passion and kindness that drives my practice today.
Several weeks after having been introduced to the Golden Bridge, I took my first class. I felt my heart open as if I had finally arrived home. Fifteen years later, I’m working on 40 Day Rituals to help inspire others to find their version of home.
After teaching for over ten years, I decided to relocate to Austin. I did not want to lose contact with our robust community there in LA. Out of that desire, along with the desire to help people make life-sustaining habits, the concept of 40 Day Rituals was born.
With the help of my best friend, Hari Simran, we started 40 Day Rituals. We are an online community for kundalini yoga, meditation, and ayurvedic rituals. Now we have 4 weekly live online classes that are recorded. We also offer 8 and 14-day immersions, as well as the 40 day ritual immersions. In this forum, we help people to make new habits around self-care and self-realization. To become more aware of our connection between body, mind, and spirit.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest struggles has been moving to a new city, trying to establish yourself, meet and create a community. All the while we experienced lockdown with COVID, I went through a divorce and became a single mom. The challenges of being a business owner
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My specialty is in Kundalini Yoga and Meditation. I found with my private practice that habitual daily meditation was when individuals started to create sustainable change in their lives. 40 Day Rituals is the amalgamation of the most successful immersion and rituals to reach a larger community.
We are currently adding a more robust content library that allows users to log in to recorded 8-day, 14 days immersion, and online live 40 Day Rituals immersions. In 2023 we plan to collaborate with other practitioners to create thematic immersions and rituals under their guide.
40-Day Rituals are unique for accessible Kundalini practice, we have built a tight-knit community of like-minded members who want to see each other succeed. We are proud of our members and the support they share for one another in each other’s practice.
We want readers to know there are like-minded individuals on our platform and in our larger community that are looking forward to connecting to your wellness journey.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes.
1. the importance of Community.
