Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Alexandersson
Hi Michael, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My father is a musician and I have been raised around it my whole life. My family played a lot of classics while I was growing up so I was always curious about music and enjoyed seeing my father make a living at it. I sang a few songs when I was a kid on stage with my dad but that was about it. It wasn’t till years later that I thought I would choose it as a career and passion. I actually only started in the beginning of 2024 at an old folks home and did a couple local performances until I was accepted to be a contestant on the voice.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think every road has its bumps and my road to being a singer has had its hardships. I believe they are bumps that every performer hits at some point in their career such as bad performances or not feeling the most motivated. I think something I struggled with a lot was being nervous on stage and sometimes thinking too much about what people are thinking while I’m singing. I luckily have the greatest family and loved ones supporting me every step of the way.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am currently a solo performing singer. I typically specialize in covering oldies from a wide range. Anything from old country to crooner tunes to rock n roll etc. I am recognized for my rendition of Ain’t that a kick in the head on the voice season 26. I would say that has been my fondest moment so far in my career but I am actually proud of my growth as a singer and finding my own original voice through all the process. I am also proud of slowly stepping out of covers to make my own songs and lyrics. I believe what might set me apart from others is my voice. I don’t sound like many singers today.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I don’t have a specific following to any book or blog to help. I think just exploring new songs day to day on any app and practicing songs over and over that are typically out of my wheelhouse has helped tremendously increase my spectrum of singing.
