Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Hillman
Hi Michael, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m relatively new to the entrepreneurial world, but looking back, I’ve always been a soul-searcher—someone driven by curiosity and a willingness to pursue passions, even when the path wasn’t clearly defined. Some might call that risk-taking; I’ve come to see it as purpose-seeking.
I studied Electrical Engineering at Purdue University, where I met my wife, Crizen. After graduation, I started my career in business consulting and spent eight years climbing the corporate ladder. During that time, Crizen made a bold career shift from aerospace to hair and makeup. Watching her light up with a new sense of purpose made me realize something important: I didn’t feel that same fire in my own professional path.
A few years later, after some deep soul-searching—and as a few close family members faced serious health issues—I felt a strong pull toward medicine. I made the leap and never looked back. I trained in Emergency Medicine, and it was through my own health transformation and exploration of longevity science that everything began to shift again.
Four years ago, I started applying what I had learned on myself, and soon members of my community began asking if I could guide their health journeys too. That spark led to the creation of our Executive Longevity Medicine practice in 2022. What started as a small, personalized practice has since grown—thanks to incredible partnerships—into a national platform focused on one of the most important and often overlooked issues in modern healthcare: metabolic health.
Despite all the advances in medicine, it’s clear that poor metabolic health remains at the core of so many chronic conditions. Our model combines advanced diagnostics and data with individualized coaching, offering a tailored, long-term approach to wellness. The journey has been unexpected, but incredibly fulfilling—and we’re just getting started.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’d say the road has felt smooth—not because it was easy, but because our purpose has always been clear. That clarity helped guide us through the tough times.
I started medical school at age 29, and during that time, we had three kids. Crizen was simultaneously building her clientele as a stylist. Without the benefit of maternity leave, she was back on her feet and working just two weeks after each of our children were born. Meanwhile, I was going through medical school and residency, often working long hours for minimal pay and contributing very little at home beyond my time and energy.
It wasn’t easy, but it never felt discouraging. In fact, the journey was full of joy, growth, and amazing friendships. One thing that helped us was meeting at a young age—before either of us had much in terms of material possessions. Starting from that baseline meant that making sacrifices never felt like losses, just part of the process.
For both of us, hard work in pursuit of our passions has always been our North Star. That mindset has made all the difference.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We’re a cutting-edge metabolic health company that leverages innovative technology and personalized health coaching to elevate longevity. At our core, we believe in a slow and steady approach—tailored to each client’s unique needs—and built on the foundation of transparency, accountability, and long-term partnership.
What truly sets us apart is our deep focus on behavior change. While many companies stop at providing data, we go further: we help our clients understand it, trend it, and use it to create sustainable transformation. We’re not interested in quick fixes—we’re committed to doing what’s right for the client, even when it’s not the easiest path.
We’re proud to serve a wide spectrum of individuals—from those operating at the top 1% of health optimization, to those navigating complex medical conditions and looking to rebuild. And we’re equally proud of the team we’ve built: an extraordinary group of professionals who share a passion for the mission and bring their best every day.
To your readers, I want to say this: we’re the company taking on one of the hardest challenges in healthcare—behavior change for metabolic health. The field of longevity medicine has expanded rapidly, and while that’s exciting, it’s also easy to lose focus. We believe it’s time to come back to the foundation: improving metabolic health through consistent, data-informed, human-centered care. That’s where lasting change happens, and that’s where we’re making our mark.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
It’s funny—when I once told one of my clients, now a mentor, that I felt very lucky in life, he quickly corrected me: “There’s no such thing as luck.” His point was that every step forward came from hard work, intention, and conviction. And to a large extent, I agree. Crizen and I have always believed that we could create a fulfilling life together, and we’ve been willing to put in the work to make it happen.
That said, if there was one moment I’d consider truly lucky, it was meeting Crizen at Purdue University in 2000. She had come all the way from the Philippines at the age of 13, and I was a Midwestern Asian American kid—raised by Japanese immigrant parents who worked tirelessly to give me a head start in life.
Our paths crossing may have been chance, but what we’ve built together since then is the product of shared values, hard work, and a deep belief in each other.
