Meet Patrica Correa of Bastrop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrica Correa

Hi Patrica , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In my early twenties, I worked for a reinforcing construction company where I learned to read blueprints. I was quickly promoted from secretary to estimator. This company was incredibly supportive, providing me with opportunities to learn and gain extensive knowledge in the construction industry.
Several years later, I left my job to help my partner run his welding business. During this time, I learned how to weld and install metal fences and rails. Although the work was hard and sometimes painful, I became fascinated with welding and was hooked. It was pretty cool being a female welder!

When my partner had to leave the country, I was left to run the welding business. With little experience in welding construction and no business degree, I had to start from scratch and learn on the job.

Over the past 18 years, navigating the male-dominated construction industry has taught me invaluable lessons, transforming me into a confident and successful business owner. welding is at the heart of both my life and my family. I’ve established a family welding company, and my husband and sons are thriving in the welding industry.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

One of the biggest challenges I faced was earning the trust of clients, general contractors, and suppliers. Gaining respect in this industry takes time and persistence. It’s easy to feel insecure when running a construction business, but my journey has shown me that perseverance pays off. Building a successful business requires dedication, hard work, and resilience.
