Meet Ranjit Kaur of RayEye Vision Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ranjit Kaur.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always been drawn to both science and service, which naturally led me to optometry. I earned my undergraduate degree from UC Santa Cruz, completed my Doctorate in Optometry at Western University of Health Sciences, and then went on to do a residency in primary care and ocular disease at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Those years shaped not only my clinical skills, but also my belief that eye care should be thorough, thoughtful, and deeply patient-centered.

After working in California and later moving to Texas, I joined Lonestar Circle of Care in Georgetown, where I gained valuable experience serving a diverse community. In 2023, I took a leap of faith and started RayEye Vision Care in Leander. Becoming a practice owner was both challenging and incredibly rewarding—it allowed me to build something from the ground up that reflects my values: high-quality medical care, beautiful eyewear, and a warm, welcoming environment where patients feel truly seen and cared for.

Today, I balance being a doctor, a business owner, and a mom, which has given me an even deeper appreciation for time, health, and community. My goal has always been to create more than just a clinic—to build a space that empowers people to prioritize their vision and overall well-being, while contributing positively to the community I’m proud to call home.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all—it’s definitely been a journey with its share of challenges. Starting and growing a practice comes with a steep learning curve, especially when you move from being a clinician to also being responsible for the business side of things. Overnight, you’re not just caring for patients, but also managing finances, building a team, navigating insurance systems, marketing, and making countless decisions that directly affect your livelihood and your staff.

There were moments early on that felt overwhelming—balancing long days in the clinic with administrative work after hours, learning to trust myself as a leader, and taking risks without any guarantees. On a personal level, doing all of this while becoming a new mom added another layer of complexity. It forced me to become very intentional with my time and to redefine what balance really looks like.

But those challenges were also the most valuable teachers. They pushed me to grow, to ask for help, and to build systems that are sustainable. Looking back, I’m grateful for the difficult seasons because they shaped the confidence and resilience I have today—and they made every milestone along the way that much more meaningful.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
RayEye Vision Care is a full-scope, modern optometry practice in Leander, Texas, built on the idea that eye care should be both medically thorough and genuinely personal. We provide comprehensive eye exams for adults and children, medical eye care, dry eye treatment, myopia management, and contact lens services, along with a thoughtfully curated optical boutique featuring high-quality, fashion-forward frames.

Clinically, we specialize in preventative and long-term vision health—especially conditions like dry eye disease, digital eye strain, and childhood myopia. As a residency-trained optometrist in ocular disease, I’m passionate about catching problems early and helping patients understand not just what is happening with their eyes, but why it matters for their overall health.

What truly sets us apart is the experience. From the moment patients walk in, we want them to feel calm, cared for, and confident. We’ve intentionally created a space that feels warm and elevated rather than clinical or rushed, and we take the time to educate patients and tailor solutions specifically to their lifestyle—whether that’s a busy parent, a student, or a professional spending long hours on screens.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that RayEye Vision Care has become known as both a trusted medical clinic and a community space. We collaborate with local businesses, host events, support schools, and genuinely invest in the people around us. Our brand is rooted in approachability, excellence, and integrity—high standards without intimidation.

What I want readers to know most is that we are not a one-size-fits-all practice. We’re deeply patient-focused, community-driven, and committed to helping people protect one of their most important senses for life. Whether someone comes in for medical care, their child’s first pair of glasses, or to find frames that make them feel confident, our goal is for them to leave feeling informed, valued, and cared for.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Leander is the sense of community. It truly feels like a place where people look out for one another. As a small business owner, I’ve been incredibly supported by local families, neighboring businesses, and other entrepreneurs who genuinely want to see each other succeed. There’s also something special about watching the city grow while still maintaining that friendly, close-knit feel—it’s a wonderful place to raise a family and build long-term roots.

I also appreciate how family-oriented and forward-thinking the city is. There’s a real emphasis on schools, local events, and creating spaces where people can connect, which makes it feel welcoming rather than transient.

If I had to choose something I like least, it would probably be how quickly the area is growing. Growth is exciting and brings opportunity, but it also comes with challenges—traffic, construction, and the risk of losing some of that small-town charm that makes Leander so special. That said, I’m hopeful the city will continue to grow thoughtfully while preserving the sense of community that drew me here in the first place.
