Hi Rick, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Alongside my father, I learned the value of hard work, precision, and perseverance. Those early years instilled in me a deep respect for the craft and a desire to build something of my own.
Life moved quickly. I became a father at a young age, which pushed me to be even more determined. I graduated high school early, knowing that every step forward was an investment in my future. I pursued my education in Drafting and Design, later expanding my knowledge with a degree in Construction Management. Each class, each project, and each job added another layer to my expertise.
I worked my way up in the industry, taking on every challenge that came my way. From labor-intensive roles to leadership positions, I gained hands-on experience that made me confident in my ability to not just work in construction—but to lead it.
When the time was right, I took the leap and started Supreme Builders Group. It wasn’t easy, but with a strong foundation of knowledge, experience, determination and an amazing team, I built something that I’m proud of. Today, my company stands as a testament to the lessons I’ve learned and the passion I have for creating something lasting—not just in buildings, but in life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Success isn’t handed to you—it’s built, one challenge at a time. My journey in the construction industry has been anything but easy. Balancing school, work, and fatherhood was tiring. . But every struggle pushed me to work harder and be better—not just for myself, but for my children.
As I worked my way up in the industry, I made mistakes—plenty of them. I underestimated timelines, miscalculated costs, and learned the hard way that leadership isn’t just about giving orders; it’s about earning respect. There were times when I felt like I had hit a wall, but each failure became a lesson. Instead of letting setbacks break me, I used them to sharpen my skills. I studied harder, asked more questions, and paid attention to the details others overlooked.
One of the biggest career lessons I learned was that no one is going to hand you an opportunity—you have to prove yourself every step of the way. I worked under people who doubted me, who didn’t think I had the experience or the ability to lead. Rather than letting their doubt hold me back, I used it as motivation. I put in extra hours, learned the business inside and out, and took on responsibilities that others avoided. Over time, I earned the trust of my peers and the respect of my mentors.
Starting Supreme Builders Group came with a whole new set of challenges. The financial risks, the uncertainty of landing contracts, and the responsibility of delivering high-quality work weighed on me. But the same perseverance that got me through college and my early career kept me moving forward. I focused on building strong relationships, delivering exceptional work, and learning from every mistake.
If I had to go back and do it all over again I would!
