Today we’d like to introduce you to Rob Mahor
Hi Rob, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Born and raised in the Philippines, my career in the hospitality industry has provided me with incredible opportunities to work and fully experience life. From my home country to the US, Singapore, and the Middle East, I have firsthand experienced diverse cultures that have greatly enriched my life and shaped who I am today.
My American journey began back in 2010 when I participated in the Work & Travel program in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After seven years, I moved to New York and then to Austin, Texas a year after. The city’s vibrant culture captivated me, and I eventually decided to make it my home.
I am currently employed as an Event Sales & Services Manager at the Fairmont Austin Hotel and also own and operate my balloon decoration business, Dreams & Bubbles.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey was not easy. When I first moved to the US, I had to stand up for myself because I wasn’t given the promised training. There have been moments when I’ve experienced being treated differently, leading to feelings of being undervalued. I encountered many who challenged my faith and determination to do well, but I never surrendered.
I’ve learned that life is hard, but it’s in our hands to manage and view things from a more positive perspective. After all, life is not about the destination but it’s the journey that leads us to where we are meant to be.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My business, Dreams & Bubbles, specializes in balloon garlands, full backdrops, and more. The artistry of balloon arrangements and decorations sparked a creative flame within me that I simply couldn’t ignore. What began as a hobby quickly evolved into a full-fledged entrepreneurial endeavor. I take great pride in sharing my talent and being a part of these memorable occasions. My passion lies in bringing joy and excitement to special events with my creations. I am committed to crafting not just beautiful balloon masterpiece, but also to delivering a personalized experience to each client, setting Dreams & Bubbles apart from the rest.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, creativity was my playground. I adored drawing, experimenting with colors, and much more. Entertaining was another passion; I was the child who danced at every party. I have four siblings and my childhood was vibrant and full of life, though not without its share of squabbles. Now, as we’ve matured, our bond has only strengthened and despite the thousands of miles between us, we always support and have each other’s back.
