Meet Ron Anderson of East side

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron Anderson.

Hi Ron, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself, tell us your background and how you got started In this business.
I started in the medical field. I was lucky enough to invent a couple of contact lens cleaners. After obtaining FDA approval on Restore contact lens cleaner, I decided I wanted to make a change. We looked at several fields and decided to stick with medicine and do mobile blood testing. This was 30 years ago when aids and cholesterol were just as much of a scare as Covid is today. My wife and I decided to buy a bus to travel in and do blood testing for people in the malls. We were originally quoted a satisfactory number for insurance; however, when the insurance came to fruition, it was 10 times the original quote. Now we had the bus and trying to figure out what to do with it.

My wife’s godmother was a booking agent for bands, and she got us a one day tour with the Mandrels. Then she got us a job taking executives from Kroger’s on a retreat; bottom line, I had the time of my life. I came home and told Natalie. This is what we want to do, and she agreed. Ultimately, we landed the Monkeys revival tour, Natalie did the wardrobe, and I drove the bus. From there, we built the company and decided to buy a new bus. We were at a facility that makes buses, and when we were leaving, I overheard the girl at the desk say “well, I’m sorry, Mr. Stallone, we don’t rent buses we only sell them.” I looked at her, and she said, but there’s a man right here that does do that. The bottom line is I got on the phone, went to Philly, and started doing rocky movies with Sylvester Stallone. He told everyone in the industry, and pretty soon, our business had grown to five buses.

We decided to build a factory to build bus interiors. We built this company up and were bought out right at the height of .com. The next year we took off on a boat and traveled worldwide. While at sea, I came up with the idea of the two-story trailer. I got a call from Will Smith saying he wanted an usual on-location trailer. I told him I had this idea and explained it to him over the phone. He liked the idea and put up the initial money to do the drawings. We ended up building the first two-story trailer for Will Smith, and from there, the rest of the world kept hearing about them. We built a fleet of rental two-story trailers and rented them out for the next decade. When Covid came along, no one was renting buses or trailers. No one was doing concerts. No one was doing movies. At that point, Natalie remembered reading the book about who moved my cheese, so we needed to find new cheese. We purchased the land next to our land and built a resort to house five of the trailers that we had remaining in our rental fleet. We have now finished the resort, and people are spending the night in Will Smith, Simon Cowell, Jennifer Lopez, and Vin Diesels trailers they used while filming movies. Natalie and I have always enjoyed caring for people and enjoying the wonderful people we’re meeting at the resort. We have found the job we’ve always been looking for and can’t wait for your readers to come and enjoy 7744 Ranch.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
If anyone ever tells you it’s easy to build a business from scratch, you may want to think about any other advice you get from this person. Since I had never built a bus before we set up the factory, I had a big learning curve. I hired two very experienced men in the field of bus interiors. I also knew we had to cut down our man-hours on the build, or building these interiors would not be profitable. We were the first company in the entertainer coach industry to purchase a CNC router. This machine cut our build-hours from 5000 per bus to 2200. From that point on, it became profitable to build the bus interiors.

Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
We have the Patent for the two-story trailer. We have gone through three different versions, and I am most proud of our new series 3 unit, which is 3 story’s tall.

What characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to if you had to?
