Meet Russ Sison of Leander

Today we’d like to introduce you to Russ Sison.

Hi Russ, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started our DJ company because my daughter learned how to DJ quickly & got good at it. I decided to quit my job (former LE) & start a DJ company with my daughter to teach her how to be independent/responsible & spend more time with my family.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road. Most struggles I have running this business is that a majority of people/potential clientele never reply to follow-ups or give us an answer for DJ services they are looking for. Trying to get booked consistently is definitely a struggle.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
– I’m a straight up DJ first. My secondary jobs consist of being a sales person, administrator, a roadie, a lighting specialist, an event coordinator, & MC.
– I’m just known as a DJ whose daughter DJs with him.
– I’m most proud of my daughter building up a good work ethic & being her own DJ.
– What sets us apart from other DJs is that I took a risk to promote us as a Father & Daughter DJ Company.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was just being a child… the highlight of that was learning how to DJ when I was 12 years old using vinyls & mixing music by ear. I had a drive & passion for DJing when I was a younger teenager.
