Today we’d like to introduce you to Sadie SaVage
Sadie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
One of my very first interviews as an artist was with the Blanco County News and at the impressively young age of ten in only fifth grade. I always believed in my God-given talent and limitless potential. I knew exactly what I wanted to be and I wanted to share my passion and creative genius to make the world a happier place. I have so many talents and I knew as a kid, I needed to create an outlet to let them strengthen, sharpen and grow. In fifth grade I began as Blanco High School art teacher Perry Kuebel’s private mentee. Under her guidance I won many local art contests, participated in art shows and had my artwork published in multiple calendars sponsored by The Texas Department of Protective and Regulated Services. As a multimedia-based artist, I like having no restrictions on where I take my creative genius. Hence, I created an all-inclusive brand that encompasses all my talents in one brand, the fierce lifestyle of having it all and doing it all. Where my triple threat talent has roots to grow and my creativity has no limits, hopefully inspiring others to maximize their potential too. I wanted to create a household name so whether I am cast in a movie or commercial as an actress, sponsored for a fitness or beauty product campaign ad as a model, making my next artwork masterpiece for my collectors home/office/or studio, writing travel blogs for all the travel influencers like me or giving tips in my beauty and fitness blog. I am able to release my creative genius to inspire and share with the world. So an artistic anomaly brand was born, Sadie SaVage. I also have my estheticians license so I have taken my education online to openly give product knowledge, which has had its perks since I am also represented by a non-exclusive modeling agency as a petite editorial model and actress. I love getting beauty brand sponsorships so I am active in the online influencer sector too. Mastering and studying your craft is important. I think being a teacher and a student is a big factor in long term success in any endeavor. My current dose of education to end 2020 is the remote one-year Mastery Program with The Milan Art Institute and I will graduate with a massive new artwork portfolio by 2021. I hope to always bestow knowledge and inspiration to everyone I meet. To influence living a fierce life and never back down from your dreams no matter the hand you were dealt. I think we all have a savage in us and you should use it to better yourself and the world around you.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As I organize my thoughts on how I finally admit this as one of my first public statements about what happened to me growing up. I knew one day this question would eventually be asked so here it goes. I was thrown into the system as a juvenile since my biological parents literally never wanted me and lost a battle with CPS when I was six months old. I was then officially a ward of the state. When I was 22, I faced that demon when I confronted my biological mother about if the stories of the horrific physical, mental abuse, neglect and attempted murder were on purpose or if they were just stories my foster family told me as a child when I was so confused on why I never felt at home, where was my real family, who am I? It was the first and last time I met her and she bluntly starred into my eyes and said, “You were never supposed to live, I was not supposed to be alive and that she was mad she didn’t kill me when she had the chance.” Father was a jail bird and they never married. I am one of two other half blood offspring they had. Mind you before 18, I was raised in a foster home in Blanco Texas. At 17 they dropped me off at the RMYS The Bridge in San Antonio after I graduated Blanco High School in 08’ their part was done and when they dropped me off with a sleeping bag and three tupperware boxes filled with everything I owned I never heard or saw them again. Since that day I don’t think I ever really had a choice to be anything other than strong and to be smarter than my surroundings to survive much less have no guidance, so I leaned into my self taught survival methods, my art when my mind was idle. I had to acquire the will to adapt in a world where I had no security or sense of stability or belonging other than when I was creating. It saved me, it kept me moving forward when everything else seemed so overwhelming being an orphan with a dream of just wanting to live a smooth, tranquil, good life all the while all the cards never endless early on stacked against me and odds never really ruled in my favor which gave me undeniable moxie and tenacity. I had a big vision at a very young age and the stark reality and immense amount of responsibility as a young kid trying to be a mother, father, child, sibling, student, friend, all to myself because I had no one else that I truly needed like that to rely on. It molded me, it changed me and as an adult it turned into a pure savage because instead of retaliate in self-destruction out of anger, pity, or hate from surviving and overcoming the living nightmare I was handed and a dark haunting past like this, I have turned it into living proof that you CAN choose to stand up and fight for the will to live a better life for YOURSELF even if every single person that should have been there for you dumps you and leaves you for dead, you have no one but yourself to make sure you make it. You can let that defeat you or you can make it add fuel to your fire and feed your will to rise and turn your story into a triumph, your motivation to fight back when there is nothing left in the tank and no one else is fighting for you; to never ever give up, never back down when the going gets tough because those are the moments that build you into unbreakable. You have a choice and it will define your story and your life. Love yourself and stay savage! Please don’t leave it up to anyone else to create your happiness or prosperity for your life.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I try to remain adaptable to what my audience and the market needs and wants. I am an artist so I am always creating fresh content and seeking lucrative opportunities with other brands and partnerships. You have to consistently network, market and keep yourself on relevant radars. What sets me apart is the value I bring with my multi-faceted resume and experience. I am a highly experienced and trained model, actress, multi media artist, licensed esthetician and social media influencer. It actually has taken ten years to achieve this. In today’s environment, it is almost a necessity to bring this much to the table in a market that is not only saturated but growing every day. I would say I am most proud of the fact that I have created something from scratch that has enabled me to live my dreams and my talents out to the fullest extent while I am still on this earth and I want to leave timeless art long after I am gone. Every painting, every photo, every blog post is a visual, spiritual, and emotional footprint that will be there to inspire generations long after I am gone.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
It was an eye awakening moment then but has been a sweet memory even now. Austin based Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center hosted the Children’s Bloomfest and hired me to commission and present my artwork for guest speaker actress Victoria Rowell. Like me, she was also raised in the system by CPS. We got to share some stories and she gave me clarity that I could make it like her too. That has stuck with me even as an adult, the way it felt to walk on a stage and present to someone famous that had come from such a similar place that I do.
