Today we’d like to introduce you to Sagar Janveja.
Hi Sagar, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Michigan and lived in DC, NYC, and Chicago before moving to Austin in early 2021. After 13+ years as an M&A investment banker, I transitioned careers to embark on a new adventure with a startup poised to transform the healthcare industry. Rugiet Health is a healthtech company connecting patients and customers with telehealth consultations and compounded medications. We are a fast-growing company backed by venture capital, but what I’m most excited about is Rugiet Health’s mission to democratize and offer customized solutions for patients. Our diverse workforce focuses on improving patients’ lives, health, and overall wellness. I’m proud that throughout our growth, the company has prioritized contributing to the community through outreach programs and charitable initiatives such as Ronald McDonald House Charities of Austin and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer.
I initially joined to lead the capital fundraising efforts, though as the company grew, my role expanded to include finance, strategy, operations, and HR. While I focus the majority of my time as Director of Finance & Operations of Rugiet Health, I haven’t left the banking world completely; I’m a Senior Advisor at Oaklins Capital Alliance, a mid-market investment bank based in Dallas, as well as a consultant to an event-driven special situations investment firm based in Austin.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As with any startup, there are multiple challenges often daily, from exploring new sales strategies to scaling up with the appropriate hiring plan and operational spend. We’re a small but thriving team, and every member manages multiple responsibilities with a collective openness to learning competencies that benefit Rugiet Health’s growth. For me personally, learning principles such as digital brand marketing has been challenging given my primary background in corporate finance and investments, but also very rewarding.
It’s been a great journey expanding my skill set and learning new business disciplines alongside such a talented team of executives, medical professionals, and creatives.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Rugiet Health?
MSB Holdings Inc. dba Rugiet Health is an East Austin, TX-based digital marketplace and clinic that provides customized solutions for patients’ individual health and wellness needs through telehealth services, board-certified physicians, and compounded medications.
What makes you happy?
My family, particularly my niece and nephew, always brings a smile to my face. I have amazing and supportive parents, and I’m fortunate to have the greatest brother in the world. I have a close group of great friends that I also consider family. Outside of socializing with family and friends, I enjoy traveling and exploring new cultures, good food and wine, a neat whiskey, watching Detroit and Michigan sports (Go Blue!), and playing basketball and soccer. Personal interests also include investing, live music, card games, art, and getting outside in nature, whether it’s hiking the trails or exploring Zilker Park.
