Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Wachter.
Hi Scott, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in and around the Sports Photography business in the Washington, DC area with my Father and Cousin, who were successful sports photographers. As much as I tried to go into a different career path, my passion for sports and photography has, and will always be, a part of me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Any freelance business can be difficult, but with perseverance and passion, anything can happen. I moved around a few times in my adult life and have had to reinvent myself, which has been no different from my relocation to Austin just over two years ago.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have been a professional photographer for 35 years, mostly specializing in sports and portraits, both professional and amateur. Of late, I have branched out to real estate photography which has been a neat challenge. I am most “known” for being a professional sports photographer who has previously lived in different markets and most recently as one of the team photographers for the San Diego Padres. I believe that my perseverance from moving around and with my continued passion, along with my strong work ethic and reliable nature, has set me apart from others and provided me with the tools to succeed wherever I land.
What matters most to you? Why?
Integrity and accountability. I shoot pictures in a professional and friendly manner and will always be honest insofar as to whether or not I am a fit for the needs and desires of a client. If I am, I will make sure the client is provided with the best service possible and be fair if there are any obstacles along the way. I also expect to be treated with the same respect that I treat my clients with, which unfortunately is not always possible.
