Hi Sereta, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As far back as I can remember, I always loved bright colors! From my clothes to shoes, to my bedroom decor and then I discovered makeup. Nothing was more fun than getting up for school a little earlier to put on blue mascara, red eyeshadow or lime green eyeliner. I never said it looked good haha, I just truly enjoyed it!
The more I wore, the more people began to notice and I became known for it and eventually others started asking me to do their makeup.
Fast forward to over a decade later, I specialize in Bridal Makeovers
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In the beginning it was only a hobby for me, I never dreamed that this could be a career. I was always working another job and doing makeup or eyebrows at night and on the weekends. I eventually went to get my cosmetology license and started taking myself seriously. I bought a website, made business cards and flyers but it still took another 4 years to take the leap to full time beauty work
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a makeup artist, I specialize in the wedding industry however I believe that my work is special because I am comfortable catering to anyone who sits in my chair. Sometimes, artists can get stuck in one lane and not know how to work with different skin types, different styles of makeup or more mature clients but my portfolio is very diverse. I’m able to customize looks for anyone
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I am actually new to the Austin scene! I cannot say definitively that I have any strong likes or dislikes but from my short experience in the bridal scene here, I find clients to be very easygoing
