Meet Seth Whaland of Mash Movers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Seth Whaland

Hi Seth, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In 2012 I was living in Austin and playing in a band called Literature. We decided to move to Philadelphia together, which is close to where a couple of us had grown up. Some friends in bands in Philly were working for a moving company there, and suggested that I try it. I ended up really enjoying the work – the physicality of the job, the camaraderie of working together, the day to day variety of moves. When I moved back to Austin in 2016 I decided to try starting a moving company of my own, and Mash Movers was born.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road hasn’t always been smooth, but there has always been a road! We’ve had some great folks working with us, helping me to figure out the challenges along the way. Obviously having to navigate the pandemic was difficult, but we made it through safely and stronger for it.
Once you’ve moved a sleeper sofa into a 3rd floor walk up, you feel like you can do anything.

I have found neither mentor nor minotaur. Still searching for one of them.
