Meet Shamrock Calhoun of Round Rock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shamrock Calhoun.

Hi Shamrock, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In my early twenties, I lived a busy, vibrant life—until unexpected health issues began to take over. At first, I ignored the warning signs, but after two years, my condition worsened, affecting my energy, mood, and daily life.

Desperate for answers, I turned to doctors, investing significant time and money. Yet all they could offer were medications to manage my symptoms, not truly heal me. I felt frustrated and exhausted. It was like no one could really help.

Everything changed when I discovered Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupuncture. My recovery was gradual but real—bringing not just physical healing, but emotional renewal. Inspired by my own transformation, I threw myself into the study of TCM, determined to help others find the healing I once thought impossible.

Today, I run my own clinic, helping patients heal and restore their quality of life with compassion and care. Helping others heal fills me with true happiness.

My message is simple: There is always hope for healing.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. The road has been full of challenges. In the beginning, the hardest part was dealing with my own doubts. I questioned whether I was making the right decision to leave a conventional path and dive into something so different, like Traditional Chinese Medicine. The studying was intense, and it took years of dedication.

Starting my own clinic wasn’t easy either. There were moments of financial stress, moments where I worried if patients would come, and moments where I felt overwhelmed by the responsibility of helping others heal. Looking back, I’m grateful for the hard times, because they shaped me into the healer I am today.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner and acupuncturist. In my clinic, I work with patients who are struggling with health issues—things like pain, fertility support, neuropathy, anxiety and etc. I specialize in treating conditions that don’t always respond well to conventional medicine, offering a more holistic and personalized approach to healing.

What I’m most proud of is helping my patients get their quality of life back—seeing them return to the things they love, like playing golf, gardening, or simply enjoying time with family without pain. Moments like that mean everything to me.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t really think of it as “luck.” I believe it’s by God’s grace that I’ve been given the chance to help people. Even the difficult times in my life—like my own health struggles—were part of a bigger plan to prepare me for this work.

Every patient who walks through my door is a blessing and a reminder of the purpose I’ve been given. I’m just grateful to be able to do something meaningful with my life, and I try to serve with a thankful heart every day.
