Hi Sita, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story starts when I first picked up my camera during the start of the 2020 pandemic as a hobby. Like many new photographers, I started shooting anything and everything, mostly for family & friends, until eventually, I found what I loved shooting the most, which is boudoir. Helping individuals discover their own beauty through the power of a lens is both inspirational and motivating.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being self-taught definitely comes with trials and tribulations. There have been endless days and nights watching YouTube, reading, podcasting and finding mentors in the industry. In addition to learning everything you can in theory, you also have to have good business acumen and learn how to actually interact with your clients from both a business standpoint as well a personable standpoint. Being able to establish good connections with your clients and making them feel confident they can trust you with their business and also confident on camera is something you can’t learn from watching YouTube all day. Every photoshoot is a learning opportunity for me to perfect my craft.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
After doing many portrait shoots, I started noticing that most of my clients, regardless of gender or age, were just blown away by how I captured them on camera. It was more mind-blowing for me that no one really knows how they are viewed until seeing it through someone else’s perspective; in this case my perspective. When they do it’s always “wowww” or “oh my goodness” or “is that really me?” I started Regal Rose Boudoir for this very reason. It’s such a wonderful and gratifying feeling to see someone love themselves just a little more and it’s empowering for me as a photographer to know that my work is making a difference. Regal Rose Boudoir offers a luxury boudoir photography experience for all genders and couples with self-love and admiration as a goal for an end result. Due to the inherent nature of boudoir photography itself, it is important to foster a good relationship where the client can show up to their “Coronation Day” (photoshoot date) and feel comfortable. This is why I get to know my clients weeks and sometimes months before a picture is even snapped. A full day is dedicated to one client and each experience is unique and customized to that client’s likes and needs.
How do you think about happiness?
This is probably going to sound corny, but making other people happy genuinely makes me happy. I understand that I can’t make everyone happy of course, but to see a genuine smile or glow on a loved one’s face and knowing you are the reason behind it is what I live for. This is probably why I’m good at what I do as a boudoir photographer. It never feels like work when you get to make a positive difference in someone’s life.
