Meet Solansch Curland of Sol Curland PLLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Solansch Curland

Hi Solansch, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Sol, originally from Quito, Ecuador. I moved to the U.S. for college and spent five years working in sales after graduation. Despite success, I felt unfulfilled and demotivated, which led me to pursue my true passion in psychology. I wanted to understand and help people more deeply, so I went back to school and obtained my master’s degree in mental health counseling.

During my internship, I worked closely with individuals battling anxiety and OCD. This experience was not only professionally enriching but also personally revealing, as it opened my eyes to my own struggles with OCD.

Embracing both my personal and professional experiences, I specialized in treating OCD and anxiety disorders. The insights I gained allowed me to not only assist others but also heal myself.

Driven by this passion, I opened my tele-therapy private practice where I see adults and teens with OCD/anxiety across the state of Texas and took to Instagram to advocate for those with OCD and anxiety. My goal is to support others who are struggling and to combat the stigma surrounding these conditions.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Certainly, it hasn’t been a smooth road! Transitioning from a career in sales where I felt unmotivated and unfulfilled, to returning to school and navigating the financial challenges that came with it, to healing my own OCD, and now opening my business in a new state—it’s been quite the journey. For context, I lived in NYC for five years, earning my master’s there. Now, establishing myself in a new place while also adjusting to life as a new mother to a beautiful 6-month-old has been incredibly challenging. But all of these experiences have been profoundly rewarding—a journey I wouldn’t trade for the world.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a therapist (Licensed Professional Counselor Associate) and private practice owner in Texas, specializing in helping teens and adults who struggle with OCD and anxiety. What distinguishes me from others in the field is not just my expertise—there are not that many of us who specialize in these disorders—but also my unique approach to treatment. Unlike many OCD/anxiety specialists, I adopt a holistic approach to healing, blending evidence-based methods with depth-oriented interventions. This comprehensive strategy allows me to not only alleviate symptoms and restore functionality but also address the emotional and relational factors that underlie or exacerbate these struggles.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I am fortunate to be working with a fantastic supervisor in Austin who also specializes in OCD/anxiety and whom I consider my mentor. I initially reached out to her through a cold email, which, as someone new to the area, was my primary method for connecting with potential supervisors. Thanks to her guidance, I’ve been introduced to other clinicians in the area, expanding my professional network. In terms of broader networking, Instagram has proven to be an invaluable tool, allowing me to connect with other therapists. I’m keen to further enhance my networking skills to continue growing professionally!
