Meet Stefania Delgado of Real Estate Agent

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefania Delgado.

Hi Stefania, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello, I am Stefania Delgado. I was born and raised in Medellin, Colombia. I grew up in a large family with few resources and am the oldest sister of 5 siblings. As one of the older children, I had the duty to care for others, so I grew up being the second mother in the house. Many responsibilities at a young age led me to move forward and look for a better future. I studied business while working full-time. I knew I had to stand out when I graduated, and having a college degree wouldn’t be enough. So I decided to learn other languages and about other cultures. This led me to where I am now. 5 years ago, I came to the US to find new opportunities for myself and my career. I discovered Austin, TX, and am so happy to call it my home. Wanting to put all my knowledge into business, I started my real estate agent career. I am focused on helping my Hispanic community and immigrants from other countries. I know that, like me, we all want to make progress with our dreams, businesses, and homes, and I want to be there to tell you that it can be achieved!

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Nothing has been easy! My path has had many obstacles, but I will mention the most relevant ones. When I wanted to start my student exchange to the US, people told me that this was impossible and that I couldn’t do it! Breaking the barrier of what people think, even within your own family, and being sure of myself was very difficult, so much so that when I got my visa, it was an internal celebration of which I applaud myself to this day for having achieved it. Another obstacle is that I was not born in the US. I learned English here, and starting a business has been a daily challenge. Many believe that for immigrants like me, the only job here is cleaning houses, working in construction, or caring for children. These are good occupations. I did that for a long time, but it took a lot of courage to study and get the necessary licenses to do what I wanted. I was dedicated. I studied so much more than other students because studying a second language requires twice the effort. And currently, it is a daily challenge to tell me if it is possible. Continue, and you will see the results.

As you know, we’re big fans of Real Estate Agent. What can you tell our readers who might need to be more familiar with the brand?
I am a real estate agent. I am a Spanish speaker and very focused on helping my Latino or immigrant community. I have been working to help them understand the process and teach them how to buy a possible US house. And that we can reach the goal step by step. I want people to see this magazine, to know who Stefania Delgado is, a real estate agent, that the most important thing for me is to help, that they see in me a leader who helps them move forward, that I am a source of inspiration for many immigrants, and that if you have a family member or friend who wants to buy or sell your home, you have your trusted agent.

What makes you happy?
Being away has made me appreciate the warmth of family even more. So my family is what makes me happy. Every time I see them, it’s a recharge for my soul. Traveling to know other cultures and new places also makes me happy.
