Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Hernandez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey has been rooted in connection, service, and a deep belief in the power of community.
I started my career in administrative and executive support, working behind the scenes with leaders across government, nonprofit, healthcare, and corporate sectors. I began in a grant-funded position as an administrative assistant with the City of Austin Police Department, where I was fortunate to have incredible mentors—both men and women in leadership—who supported my growth and development. With their guidance, I was able to promote during my tenure, eventually serving as Assistant to the Chief of Police and as an administrative supervisor for civilian staff. In these roles, I managed executive priorities, oversaw administrative operations, and supported critical community-facing initiatives.
In every role that followed my time at APD, event management remained a consistent and integral part of my work. Whether coordinating large-scale community events, executive meetings, or fundraising initiatives, I continued to build on my ability to manage logistics, cultivate relationships, and create meaningful, well-executed experiences.
In 2022, I had the opportunity to become part of an event management group, which ultimately led to me owning the company, Safire Events. This experience allowed me to fully step into my passion for event production and community engagement, giving me the platform to bring people together in more intentional and impactful ways.
Over time, I realized that my strength wasn’t just in keeping things running smoothly—it was in bringing people together, building relationships, and creating meaningful experiences. That realization led me to expand further into event production and community engagement, where I now focus on connecting organizations, leaders, and communities in impactful ways.
Today, I serve as a Senior External Relations Associate with Texans Care for Children, where I help coordinate events, strengthen partnerships, and support efforts that improve outcomes for children and families across Texas. I also stay deeply involved in the community through various leadership and volunteer roles, working to create spaces where people feel seen, heard, and empowered.
My path hasn’t been linear, but every step has built on the last. What started as a role supporting leaders has grown into a career centered on collaboration, advocacy, and creating opportunities for others. At the core of everything I do is a commitment to making a difference—whether that’s through events, partnerships, or simply bringing the right people into the same room at the right time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In my journey to get where I am today, I faced challenges early on. I was a teen mom, working to finish high school while also navigating a divorce at 18. That period of my life required me to grow up quickly, take on responsibility, and stay focused on creating a better future despite the obstacles in front of me.
Along the way, I’ve also faced very personal challenges, including being a survivor of domestic violence and experiencing an attempted suicide during a time when I was struggling with undiagnosed depression. That chapter was incredibly difficult, and it forced me to confront things I had pushed aside for a long time. Seeking support, prioritizing my mental health, and doing the work to heal was not easy—but it was necessary.
Professionally, there were challenges as well. Early in my career, I had to learn how to find my voice in high-level environments, build confidence, and navigate complex dynamics while still growing into my role. As I took on more responsibility, balancing leadership, high expectations, and personal well-being became an ongoing lesson.
Transitioning into event management and eventually business ownership brought its own set of challenges—uncertainty, risk, and the pressure to consistently deliver at a high level. There were moments of self-doubt, but I leaned on my resilience and the foundation I had built over the years.
What I’ve learned is that growth doesn’t come from a smooth path—it comes from how you navigate the difficult ones. My experiences, both personal and professional, have strengthened my resilience, deepened my empathy, and shaped the way I lead and show up for others. They’ve given me a greater sense of purpose and a commitment to creating spaces where people feel supported, seen, and valued.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Safire Events is rooted in connection, purpose, and creating experiences that bring people together in meaningful ways. What started as an opportunity in 2022 evolved into something much bigger—now a company that focuses on intentional event production, community engagement, and strategic connections.
At its core, Safire Events specializes in producing events that are not just well-executed, but impactful. From nonprofit fundraisers and community-driven events to corporate and civic gatherings, we handle everything from concept to execution—logistics, vendor management, sponsorship integration, guest experience, and overall flow. Beyond events, the work often extends into relationship-building, helping organizations connect with the right people, partners, and resources to move their mission forward.
What sets Safire Events apart is the approach. It’s not just about planning an event—it’s about understanding the “why” behind it. Every event is treated as an opportunity to tell a story, elevate a mission, and create an experience where people feel something. There’s a strong emphasis on community impact, authenticity, and making sure every detail aligns with the bigger purpose.
Safire Events has become known for creating spaces that feel both elevated and welcoming—where community leaders, organizations, and attendees can genuinely connect. Whether it’s a “party with a purpose,” a fundraiser, or a strategic gathering, the goal is always the same: to create an environment where relationships are built and impact is made.
Brand-wise, what stands out most is the intentionality behind everything. From the way events are curated to the way partnerships are built, there is a deep commitment to doing work that matters. The pride comes from seeing the ripple effect—organizations gaining support, individuals finding community, and events turning into something bigger than just a moment in time.
What I want people to know about Safire Events is that it’s more than an event company—it’s a connector. It’s about bringing the right people into the right rooms for the right reasons, and creating experiences that leave a lasting impact long after the event is over.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are several ways to work with, collaborate with, or support Safire Events, depending on what you’re looking to create or be part of.
For organizations, nonprofits, and companies, you can partner with us for event production and strategic support. We work closely with clients from concept to execution—whether it’s a fundraiser, community event, corporate gathering, or curated experience. This includes planning, logistics, vendor coordination, sponsorship strategy, and ensuring the event aligns with your overall goals and mission.
Collaboration is a big part of what we do. We’re always open to working with community leaders, businesses, creatives, and organizations who want to co-create events or experiences that bring people together in meaningful ways. If you have an idea, a cause, or a vision, we can help bring it to life and connect it to the right audience.
For those looking to support, there are opportunities to sponsor events, partner on initiatives, or contribute resources that help expand the impact of the work. Whether it’s through financial support, in-kind donations, or simply showing up and engaging, every level of support helps strengthen the community we’re building.
You can also support by staying connected—attending events, sharing opportunities within your network, and being part of the spaces we create. A big part of Safire Events is about relationships, and the more people who are engaged, the greater the impact.
At the end of the day, the door is always open. If you’re looking to create something meaningful, collaborate with purpose, or support work that connects community and impact, there’s a place for you here.
